Our World Thinking Day is behind us now. It was celebrated today, and we had so many compliments on our set up--we took up 2 tables :) We made madagascar hissing cockroaches from foam, fly swatters with bugs on them, and a few safety pin and beads-Flags....we did a little of everything, even had the passports for the girls to go around with--They loved it!!

We did Madagascar 2 years ago - the girls loved it & had a great time. I brought my laptop to the event & had the music from Madagascar playing, which was also lots of fun.

our swap was a lemur, which we made from pom pom balls & googly eyes; probably a little tricky for daisys tho, as even our brownies had some trouble. Still, very cute & popular :)

enjoy your TD; ours is coming together nicely.

Thanks ladies! I knew that I was on the right page with TD and the way it's ran....I guess our SAM doesn't like to go all out for that, IDK?

GOOD, my Daisy Troop Chose Madagascar and we are researching that with Foods, games, Girl Guides in that country, with a little board on the water issues in that country and they conserve etc....then in addition each daisy had a water chart to see how they could conserve water and do their part at home.

Shell, our SU is doing the same thing! How cool!

The girls in our Brownie troop chose the country Turkey to represent (I have no idea why LOL) and each girl is finding something out about Turkey, a craft there, its food, what they do for water, conservation and what they wear, if there are girl guides there, what kind of animals they have, weather, etc.

And all our Troops are setting up little tables = one for each country/Troop. The girls get to travel around and get a paper passport stamped at each table/country while they learn about girl scouts/guides around the world!

Anyway, it should be pretty cool! :)

No one can make you feel any particular way, good or bad........ unless you let them.

I'm in charge of our SU's TD event this year. Theme is water, so we are getting some inexpensive water bottles printed w/a logo & giving them to the girls at the event. We also give each participator a lanyard to pin the swaps they collect from each country to.

Typically, at our event, troops make a board about their country, share swaps, prepare food/drink to share from their country & may do a dance/skit representative of their country. In addition, this year we are looking for some service project ideas around the idea of saving pennies - I saw something on it a few months ago & can't find it again.

Our Neighborhood is having a World Thinking Day event. The older girls are going to present different countries and the Brownies and Daisies are going to be the "tourists" that "visit" the countries and learn about Girl Scouting in that country. This is my first year and I'm really looking forward to it.

I've never been in a Service Unit that did anything for Thinking Day. This year we are doing a SU event on the countries that GS picked out and water. I don't know what the actual activities are though. This will be new for me too.

If you got a traffic ticket would you break every traffic law the rest of the day? Then why toss the whole day over a slice of pizza? ~Indygirl

So this is my 1st year as a leader, though I am been involved with scouting for 3 yrs...since we are a military family we move around alot and this is the first year that during WTD, we did not research a country with the Emphasis on whatever the WAGGS picks out??

How do you guys do your WTD celebration?

we were told, by our SAM, to just do something about water. that's it.
