Hey Sparkers!

I love Spring, except for ONE thing -- BUGS!! We finally mowed our lawn yesterday, in support of No Mow May, and the mosquitoes are ravenous!

But I love Spring, other than that. I have been watching the trees in the yard get greener and fuller, and only one of our lilac trees managed to bloom this year -- the other 2 somehow broke main branches, so it won't be this year for those blooms.

Wifey is eyeball-deep in Continuous Education today.... she needed to put in 12 hrs of CE before the month is up, and I think she might need 4 more today. So I'm working some OT today, creating a bunch of new accounts for Monday, refusing to do certain ones because I've done enough, and we have 2 new students who started last week. Both students are mature, meaning 25+, but they're both in their 40's. I'm hoping that BossMan chose well and selected these mature students, especially in the scope of just .... well.... being responsible and grown up. And English-speaking, which is just awesome. One fellow is half Cyprus, half Canadian, and the other is another Monctoner who speaks the same 3 languages I do -- French, English & Chiac. :-)

What are you goals this summer? Are you goals daily, weekly or monthly?

I'm going to work on spraying more fly dope on myself when I go outside at lunchtime, and if the bugs are just that bad, do a damn workout in the house. The last half of May hasn't been as active as I would have liked, between a very sick Munchkin cat, 2 very hyper dogs, StepSonChef heading back to AB to work. I haven't managed to do the cat litter nor water plants daily since SSC left, so that's another goal. I spend too much time playing on my phone in the evenings as a way to distract myself at night when Wifey is working in Rothsay, so there are 2 main goals I have for that -- uninstall 1 game from my phone that sucks my time, so I can bring it down to 3 action and 2 card games by fall; and spend some time working on Expedia Cruise travel agent stuff. I am just as paranoid as anyone about travelling, even with a first vaccine, but spaces for NEXT year are getting bought fast. This would be mostly for cruises, but I know that if we can afford to go, I so want to head to the Caribbean this winter for a week. Those places are not filling up as fast, so it'll be closer to when we could go when I'll book us a vacation. I want to connect with my customers again, so they don't think I have left the business.

I miss StepSon, but I sure love keeping the bathroom door open when I go, and animals are always up for some lovins, even if I am a captive audience. :-)

Spark On!

Jo

Hey everyone!!

Iím still sparking but life exploded, so I kept tracking/logging, but checking in here fell off the rails Iím afraid. A few recent highlights...

- weíve all had first doses of the vaccine, even 18-year old son. Canít wait to get second dose done!
- son has one week left of high school. He is now working on getting a summer job and fingers are crossed that his interviews this week went well. He got accepted to a couple of universities and received some scholarships, but thatís a drop in the bucket!
- we bought a new toy for the deck since it appears to be another summer without any major travel plans...an outdoor pizza oven! Itís just a small one that connects to a propane tank, but it does a fantastic job. Makes up for missing our favourite wood-fired pizzas for the last year and a half. Plus, you can control the toppings and ingredients and make them healthier at home.
- have been keeping up with my workouts and active rest days so Iím at around 625 days now!

Speaking of that, Iíve got to get ready for my run now so I can have it done before lunch!

Stay safe all!!

Hey Sparkers!

So the month of May brings Mosquitoes. That's what I should write in as forum topic next year (haha). I have a small number of bites, but nothing crazy, and the mosquito bites are worse than the blackflies for me. Gold Bond cream sure helps with the itch.

On Monday, StepSonChef headed to Alberta, and made it to Jasper safely the next day. It's hard to image he was at home with us for 6 months. And more than likely, it'll be close to 6 months when he comes home again. I hope he manages to write his beginner's test for driving while he is out there.

The long weekend was nice, even though it was yucky Saturday and Sunday. We got a lot of house chores done, and SSC packed all weekend. As a goodbye supper, we had grilling steaks and potatoes and Greek salad, and they had fiddleheads.

We're far enough into No Mow May that I'm mowing now. The dogs, especially the short ones, are getting bit a lot lately, and that's not fair to them. Since today is payday, I'll be heading up to Costco to get some gas for the ride-on, and we'll get the lawn mowed completely by Sunday, assuming it doesn't rain. Since we moved some stuff out of the yard, like old buckets & a crazy carpet among other things, there's a little more yard to mow and make it nicer looking. Later this summer, when the bugs aren't as bad, I'll return to the trails in the back yard and start trimming trees to get through. Once done, the ride-on should fit through the trails and take no time to finish it all. I also need to get some seeds ready for planting outside, I'm going to try the garden again. The plants much prefer rain water, so I've been collecting some early in the season.

Spark the Dream!

Well now... THAT was a gorgeous spring weekend!

Hey Sparkers!

My first vaccine went well, I got the Pfizer shot, since I had the choice. Wifey goes on Friday.

@GLENDA2017 - It must be really hard to make friends at this time of pandemic. Don't give up, with summer around the corner, you may find local outdoor events. And on a serious note, please remember that depression and anxiety do NOT go away on their own, so if you're not on happy pills yet, you may want to talk to your fam Doc about it soon.

The yard is coming along nicely, and most of last year's leaves are burned up. Now to find another yard project, so I keep going outdoors.

Enjoy the mini heatwave!

Hi Sparkies
Just a quick hello.
I am on my way out for a second walk.
Taking my camera this time. The Snow Birds are here practicing and I am hoping to get a few shots.
Jo- I go for my Vac next Friday. I am hoping itís the Phizer one, but we will see. I am a little bit anxious over it.
Anyways thatís life for now.
I am still plugging along or I should say Sparking along. Some days are easier than others. It depends on my level of depression/anxiety. Very difficult to make friends these days and I was really hoping to join a group out here. Thatís not happening anytime soon. So I will continue to plod along trying to be content with myself.

Standing on my own two feet.

Hugs from BC

Quick update....

StepSonChef's return to Alberta has been delayed another 2 weeks, it's raining hard in Fredericton today, and the summer student account requests have been pouring in like a dam busting.

One of the girls at the office got the AstraZeneca shot on Tuesday, and she was sick yesterday, flu-like symptoms. Apparently Tylenol and an extra 12 hrs of sleep helped, because she's back to work today. Wifey and I finally qualify for the shot, so now I have to decide which one we want to get, since we may have the option.

And our workload tripled in the last week... it's called Seasonal & Students. It's hard to keep up, but we're doing what we can.

No yardwork for me today... it's just raining too hard.

Hey East Coast Sparkers (both near and far)!!

It's May. You have no idea how relieved I am that most of the snow (darn 4-letter word!) has ended for the year.

I'm also a little worried about everyone! It's been a while since I've heard from you. I know, with Spring in full swing, it's time to get outside, and I'm out there too, so drop a line when you can this month.

With the beginning of May comes the first influx of transfer and new account creations - seasonals. My first hour of OT this morning was more productive than 2 days worth of daytime hours. It's encouraging, even though one of our scripts that creates new accounts is a little wobbly. It's the weirdest thing, but something flipped a switch that we can't figure out, so we're back to doing things manually. I'm happy the transfer script is still working! I think I'd start pulling hair if I had to do those manually too....

Wifey and StepSonChef have gone fishing in the Cambridge-Narrows area. Brook fishing is one of their favourite activities, and I am just not into that much fishing, so they're getting some Ma-Son time. If they bring home trout, I know SSC will make something fabulous that will taste amazing.... down to 11 days before he leaves for Alberta for the summer.

Have I mentioned he's doing all kinds of prep work for foods for us while he's gone? Last night, he made some flattened fried chicken, and what he didn't cook was IQF'ed in the deep freezer. He's made burgers, sauces, spice blends and other stuff, I don't think I'll starve from boring food ever again. I'll miss him a lot, but at least I won't have to miss as much of his cooking.

Time to make a little more $$ with OT!

Spark on Like You Mean It!
