Ok, there are WAY too many leaves on my lawn!

Hey Peeps!

Like everyone else here, keeping motivated for weight loss isn't easy these days. Meals aren't that bad, really, I try to use whole foods whenever possible, but there isn't enough low-carb veggies in my meals. Wifey loves the starchy veggies, especially potatoes -- I don't find some of those veggies have a lot of flavour. At least we've been making a weekly supper meal list, so we can go through the deep freezer stock and the pantry.

My feet are still ok, but my knees and hips just... aren't. In the last couple weeks, I've been trying to get outside to walk at lunchtime. It's a dirt road, and there's almost never any traffic at that time of day. Last week, I walked from one neighbour's house to the other and back home, and I really struggled with pain. This week, I'm trying with my workboots instead of sneakers or shoes. They offer more protection to the foot and ankle, and I don't have to look down with every step to avoid rocks. I've also been increasing my time walking, from 10 mins 2 weeks ago to 15 mins last week, to 20 this week. I feel like I have no speed, although I did get 0.8km in that time. Then I was surprised my lungs were struggling too! I really need to stay on the exercise thing all winter, so I don't get weak.

The front deck is looking really nice! Wifey made the first frame for one of the deck windows, covering it with plastic to stop the wind & snow. Next, she needs to remove the railings on the stairs, put one board up on either side of the deck at the top of the stairs, put the railings back on and she can finish the other 2 windows. The door will be a wooden (hopefully) screen door that will sit on a rail, so it opens like a barn door. It was the best solution we could imagine for the way our stairs come up to the deck. I reminded Wifey that after the deck is done, we turn our attention to the back yard, and take steps to save money to have the new back door created. The front of the house will be pretty... the back yard is where we play! We've talked about an above ground pool, but it can't be right behind the house since that's where the septic field is located. I have some ideas, but we'll see after we get the back door.

I'm off to find out if Air Canada will extend a Future Travel Credit from March 2020 to December 2021 for a client. I haven't done ANY travel agent work in months, so this feels weird!

Walk faster to stay warm! ;-)

Jo

Hey ladies. Just popping in to say hello. I'm still lingering around. Trying the hang on. It's a battle. No desire or motivation for weightloss right now. I did join the biggest loser challenge again but as you can imagine I'm no help to the group.
Hard to believe Thanksgiving is over and Holloween is right around the corner. All this week at work I was putting up Christmas cards. Can you believe it's just over nine weeks away. Now that the cottage is all straightened away I will focus on getting my house in order for Christmas and get my shopping done. I don't want to be out shopping in December this year. I don't mind some odds and ends but the bulk of it needs to be done.
Hope all is well with everyone.

Is that really a chill in the air?! nooooooooooooooooooooo.....

Hey everyone!

I think I might be more than halfway done with the Ministers and Deputy Ministers, and their office entourage. Some appointments for the admins only came out at 3pm today, so there will be more tickets. And apparently the French calls tickets are climbing in number... I feel bad, but Elections is my priority.

After many months of complaining, I finally -- FINALLY! -- have my new orthotic inserts. I put them in my favourite shoes, and for the first time in a long time, my feet DID NOT HURT! OMG! It was instantaneous! The pain under my feet is gone for now, which means my knees and hips will feel better soon, and I can actually DO CARDIO again! Can you tell I'm excited?

Wifey has an interview in Sussex next week. It's one of 3 vet clinics in a village whose nickname is Dairytown, and that's the name of the clinic where she has an interview. As long as she finds work in the southern half of NB, it won't cost us a lot for her to travel, and because she speaks no French, northern NB is not an option. Bathurst might, maybe, have an opening where she could work, but I know they prefer bilingual there too. If you are a part of a prayer group, please add my Wifey to the list, to find a job at a veterinarian clinic/hospital within NB, and sooner rather than later. :-)

I'm off to walk about! OMG! This is so awesome!!!

“Happy October 2020 everyone.”

Jo, you have some busy times girl... Keeps you outta trouble I bet... Glad your knee is healing up nicely for you. I hope your wifey lands a job. These difficult times we are living in probably doesn’t help.

I am still plugging along, doin’ my own thing here. Walking everyday and managing to stay out of trouble. (No easy feat for an oldie like me)... lol...

Lots of smoke from the US coming up again. It’s hangin’ around the mountains..

Until next time, take care all my peeps and chat soon.

Keep the Spark...

Hugs

PS

Sorry for the sideways pic....

Hi everyone!

Sorry I didn't get to participate in September's thread more than I did. Just a quick update, since I have meetings today.

The offer of OT has ended in my office. YAY!! I've already cashed in 12 days, and I have another 6 to use up. It's nice to be done when my shift is actually over.

The NB provincial election has more than a few IT people in a tailspin. ;-) The tickets are coming in hard and fast to modify their network accounts, and I only deal with Ministers and the Deputy Ministers, and their direct ministerial staff. I think I counted at least 15 people transferring, 6 leaving, and 3 new hires, and that's just the Minister and the DM. I'm gonna be busy again, but it'll be ok.

Wifey still hasn't found a job yet. She's starting to get depressed, and she's doing things to help her stay positive. I get the feeling there may be some age discrimination, and I'm worried about that for her. But we'll be ok.

Knee is doing awesome. I'm about 95% healed, but I'm still going to physio. I know there's lot more work that can be done to heal up this chunky hurtin' body, so I can move again.

Meetings! Holy Elections and Shuffles!

Spark On!
