Just a quick note, because today is going to be busy.

I'm training the new guy, and doing a department that is particular. This is good exposure for him to how some departments are particular.

I'm having difficulty getting all my water in this morning, because I'm talking so much! I'll work on it, thought.

And here's an image to get you through your day:

Fingers crossed for you Jo...

I booked my trip today. April 26 is when I leave on my adventure. I am soooo excited.

Sad news for Houdini. The bacon done him in. :(

I woke up at 3:00 this morning and then I couldnít get back to sleep. I hate when that happens. It used to happen a lot one time and 3:00 was always the time. I thought I was over all that. I guess itís just because of all of this planning. My brain is working overtime.

So I am off to my nest soon,

Have a good night peeps.

Hugs

... bacon be cooked. LOL I love that.

We have a new member on our work team today, and he's training. Oh, and I have a job interview tonight for a part time gig. If I get it, I'll let everyone know.

Spark it up!

Managed to get a 40min walk in today. I took the boy back in the woods on the trail. His nose was all over the place. So many critters cross the trail. It was good to get out even if only for a short while. The wind was still quite chilly. Brrrr.
My stepdaughter and family came with me, so it made for an enjoyable walk. Itís nice to have someone to talk to. Marty is good, but not a conversationalist...lol..

I still have Houdini sneaking around(mouse). He liked the peanut butter and didnít spring the trap, so my brother put bacon in the traps for tonight. I said I will probably find a note from the little rascal on my counter tomorrow morning requesting that the bacon be cooked... lol...

Have a good night peeps and remember to Keep The Spark...

Hugs...

Did some housework today. Way too cold to stay outside for very long. Tomorrow we are getting some snow I guess. A few centimetres anyway. I will have to watch out for the ice underneath. Sometimes though the snow gives more traction.

I made my stir fry today. Lots of veggies and I used some stew beef. I was going to use some shrimp but the beef won out. I usually would put some peppers in but they were too expensive to buy grocery day. Maybe next time.

I must do some stomping around in the house again, to get my steps in. My daughter and I are planning on setting up a little exercise area when I get out there. It will be nice to have someone to work out with.

Well till tomorrow Spark hard..

You know it's cold out when the dog contemplates the cat litter box. He has radial/sciatic nerve pain down his left front paw, so he's not a fan of this weather either. He particularly doesn't like the walk down the stairs, but he is becoming a little more accustomed to walking on 3 legs when he needs to.

The sciatic nerve flare-up will take a few more weeks to settle down. As I sit in my office, I can feel the pressure starting to trickle down to my knee. I fidget in my chair, get up often, even do lunges & squats in my office to relieve the pressure. I'm trying to do both holistic/natural remedies as well as pharmaceuticals. This one was a bad flare-up, and will take time to heal. Meanwhile, I have to become creative in my workouts, because I can't do a lot of activities standing up... that eventually bothers my sciatic nerve too. I really need to check out the prices of the local indoor pool, since they have lap swim for adults from 1130-1230 M-F.... that just might work.

Some of the sauces I use are VH, but it depends what I'm making. I had hamburger & cauliflower, and I wanted another veggie, so I added spaghetti sauce. Just 1-2 veggies does the trick. Sometimes I'll make an Alfredo sauce from scratch, make it thick, then add it to the pan. I can't do a lot of the soy-based sauces because of estrogen, but sometimes I will. I have a sweet tooth, so I particularly like the sweet & sour and the honey garlic flavours. I bought some coconut amino sauce, and it's the best replacement for soy sauce. I'll make the honey garlic sauce with that, and it's hard to tell the difference. :-)

Our ticket-tracking system for IT is down at the moment... such irony... just reboot the darn server! LOL I'm off to get some stuff done that doesn't need the tracking system. *rolling eyes* "Just call the helpdesk"....

Have an awesome Friday!!

I just made some quick trips outside with the pooch today. It was too cold out. I canít let him go out by himself, being a hound he would get on the trail of something and be lost. So we both get to go out in the frigid air.

Oh Jo you must suffer with both sciatic nerves giving you trouble. Thank goodness for meds.

What kind of sauce do you use for your stir fries? I like the VH sauces. Teriyaki is my favourite. I use it sparingly though, because I can really get carried away with the amount. I think I will make a stir fry tomorrow. I have some shrimp in the freezer and some frozen veggies. That makes a good quick meal.

Well I must go for tonight. It is almost midnight and I donít want to turn into a pumpkin...

Have a good night peeps.

Keep the Spark...

Hugs.

The heat pump is fine -- it was just a maintenance call, the first one since we've had the unit (Nov '17). The guy cleaned out about 2" of dirt on the top. Life's tough when you're short. ;-)

Glenda, it's too cold to be outside for any length of time.... my dog barely wants to go down the stairs to pee! This polar vortex will hopefully be gone soon.

I'm glad you had a great supper with that chicken! I'm getting better at planning my supper, now that I write down what protein is in the fridge, and what veggies need to be eaten first. Meat, veggies, some sauce, throw it in the frying pan and BOOM! supper's done.

I know the others are busy, but they always were. Just like me & you. I'm hoping my message this morning helps to bring them back.

I'm headed home to take some good meds to relax my sciatic nerves. Yes, that's both nerves... on either side of the body.

Stay warm!

Jo, I hope you got your heat pump up and running. Bad time of year to have it on the blink. Yes I seen some pics of the flooding. Awlful... I feel so bad for those people. :(
I didnít get out for a good walk today. The weather here was miserable. I did manage to take the pooch out to the back field that was it. The rain and wind was just too much to stay out too long in. If all of this freezes we will have a skating rink too.
I had a nice supper this evening. Roast chicken and veggies. Yummy. I managed also to get my steps in. Yay...
I spent a lot of time today working on my travel plans. There is still a lot to do. I was hoping to make a side trip to Banff but from all indications it will be too expensive right now. Oh well..
Thanks for keeping me company here Jo.. I donít know what happened to the others? Really busy lives I guess. Maybe they will come back to us soon.
Hugs and have a good night.

Yeah, the snow is bad this year, but it was bad last year, too. The snow is bad enough, but it's the rain that's making a worse mess than anything else. Have you seen pictures of Saint John and Sussex in NB? Some homes had to be evacuated from flooding. In January. I look forward to a normal winter, whatever that may look like!

I'm leaving work at 2pm today, because I have a tech coming over to do maintenance on the heat pump. If he has to get to the outside unit, I may have to lend him my snowshoes. The heat pump hasn't been working quite right since about 2 storms ago, when it was really cold out. I've tried messing with the temps, but it's not really working. Hopefully the tech can make my house feel warm again.

And because we have the heat pump, it's really dry in the winter, so I have a humidifier going in the living room, away from the heat pump. The problem is I haven't cleaned that either, but I can't use just anything, because of cats. I'm going to look up if lemon scent is ok for cats, and if it is, I'm going to try vinegar and lemon on the unit. When it tries to work, it spits and cracks. At first I thought it was the power cord, but after looking on the underside of the heating element, there is a lot of calcium deposits. We have a LOT of calcium in our water, so I'm not surprised.

Ok, back to work so I can get a little more done.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Jo, no I havenít checked the train schedule yet, but I will soon. I am getting anxious and there is a lot to think about and do.
You guys sure have been getting hit hard with snow and ice. Be careful getting around.
We are fairly lucky here so far. Where I am at we are very close to the ocean so our weather has been a little bit nicer. We are supposed to get a little dusting of snow tomorrow and some rain. Just a mess.

I am cooking some chicken this evening for tomorrow. I was going to have it today, but I took myself out for lunch instead. Sometimes you just gotta do that, you know, treat yourself. I was out to get groceries and decided why not? I guess lunch was better that going to look at leather jackets, right? I had thought of doing that and then decided it would cost me too much so lunch won out. Decisions,, decisions! lol...

Have a great evening peeps.

I made it! Phew! I really need to make the time to post more often. :-)

Glenda, you're going out there by train? it's going to be an AMAZING trip! I've done Vancouver to Moncton, and then Moncton to Montreal (for a show), and taking a berth for at least the last 2 nights of the trip is worth every penny. Have you checked out the schedule yet?

Well, if it hadn't rained last week, we'd have 12 ft of snow in the yard. Instead, I only have 8 feet, and a skating rink for a driveway. :-S I can park close to the house, which helps, but I ain't going outdoors for at least a bit. More snow tomorrow that will again change to rain. My SUV has 4WD, and it's going to be the only peace of mind I get on my way home. I don't remember seeing a winter like this one, with so much rain and snow, and temps really swinging from frostbite to going without a parka in the same 12 hrs. I hope we don't get too many more winters like this, although I appreciate still being able to look out my living room window. That said, it was only in March that the snow was blocking my windows.

So my new/old team is pretty cool. There's only one person who's still here from the originals, back in 2010, and she's planning to retire in 2 yrs -- at 56!! -- but she's the one I was worried about. She's a gossip, and she's easily frustrated. It's hard to to ask her questions because we never know what kind of mood she's in. The others have only been on the team since 2018, so I have a little seniority over them. Not much, but some, on this team. It's definitely easier to get up in the morning to come to work now. And I listen to positive affirmations every morning, which helps to put ME in a good frame of mind.

I hate shopping. I hate spending money even more. But I need new sneakers and shoes. I must put on close to 500 miles on each of them in 6 months, and I got these late last spring. *ugh* Do I really have to pull up my big girl panties? *sigh* ;-)

Have a Terrifically Sparking Tuesday!

Yes I am Jo, but now I am making plans for my big move to BC. I am getting anxious to make the move. I heard the train this morning when I was out on my walk with the pooch and it sounded like it was calling me...Ēget your butt on here girlĒ.... lol....
The ice has pretty much left us here. I am happy about that. I get scared I might fall. You be careful too, my friend.
The girl thatís thinking on travelling out with me is from BC and wants to go home for a visit to see her Mom. She could fly out, but wants the train experience, I hope it works out for her. That would be awesome for me. I would have someone to share the experience with.
Yes it would be nice if we could get some peeps to post. I miss the chatter.
I am happy that you had a good experience at the Japanese restaurant. It is nice to get out and experience some new things. Live doesnít have to be boring.
Well gotta run for now..
Take care and have a good evening...

Glenda, you are awesome for posting here regularly. I think it may be time to poke the others in the ribs to see if they can post at least a couple times a week.

The Japanese restaurant was good, and it reminded me a lot of a Chinese restaurant. Food was served in little compartments, as if each food could stand on its own. The presentation was pretty too. I had a salad, because I wanted something light, and it came with a soy sauce-based dressing, and it wasn't hot spicy! The salad didn't come with meat, so I asked if some chicken could be added for an additional price. $4 more and I had quite a bit of chicken! Koto in Fredericton gets a big thumbs up from me. :)

We didn't get quite as much rain as Sussex, Moncton or Saint John, but we got some. Driveways are like skating rinks now, because of the rain. A lot of people plowed their driveways before the rain stopped, and voila! instant rink! Temps are starting to drop now, so I'm hoping I don't need 4WD to get home.

Holy Hot Flash! did they turn the heat up in this office?! I sure wish I had worn a tank top under a shirt today!

Glenda, are you all moved into the apartment? I can't remember, but something tells me yes.

Rock & Spark the Weekend!!

So Jo how was the Japanese restaurant? I have never been to one and was wondering what the food is like.

Another cold walk today but the pooch and I did it. I miss my tread climber on cold days like today.

I wonder how all the other peeps are? I hope they are well.

Until tomorrow sleep tight.

Cold. Yep. Cold. Don't lick a metal pole today, especially outside. :)

I'm a hurtin' unit today. Massage therapy was really intense, but it's the first time we've really been able to get to the sciatic nerve and the piriformis muscle. It's not often she leaves a bruise, but there is one right where she tried to take the knot out of the muscle. She got a lot of it out, but I have a lot of hip issues, and the "muscle attachment sites" on my hip are really sore today. I can't stay home from the pain, because I have to move around to get any relief.

It's a good thing I'm a positive kind of person, or I'd be some grumpy today!

I've got 2 toradol in me, and 2 extra-strength Tylenol since 830 today. Pain isn't gone, but the edge is. Barely.

Because the pain was bad last night, and nothing seemed to work to ease it, including cannabis and Tylenol, I could barely move. I missed my Dr's appointment (I thought it was PM when it was actually AM), so I see her next week, and we have to talk about this. I have a very high pain tolerance for aches, but it's going to start affecting my positive outlook soon.

And today, I have a lunch date with a recent widower (and a former co-worker), and we're going to a Japanese restaurant for lunch. I have NO idea what to expect!

Time to get this chunky butt moving a bit so the muscles don't seize up!

No big plans for the rest of the week, just taking it a day at a time.

That sounds yummy Jo. I like cauliflower but it is really expensive here now to buy fresh so I bought a package of frozen today.

I had lunch today with two of my former coworkers. It was nice to see them and catch up.

I am pretty tired tonight. I didnít get much sleep last night so I need to head off to my nest.

Sleep tight peeps.

Well, I was a lot less stressed for making supper last night, because I had the list of foods that I want to eat up first. Cauliflower, sloppy joe mix and beef were an awesome supper and leftovers for lunch today. I think I'll try that kind of planning for tonight, too.

It's almost time to head home. Tomorrow, I only have a half day since I have 2 medical appts in the afternoon.

Jo I kinked it really bad in my sleep. I was sleeping on the couch and my head was curled up next to the arm of it. I wonít be doing that again any time soon.. The knot in my neck was right up next to the base of my skull. emoticon

Yep itís still nippy out there. At least we didnít have much wind here today. Thank goodness..

Planning meals can be daunting. I usually just figure out what I want for supper in the morning. To plan in great detail for a week in advance really doesnít work for me. Having said that, I find that by tracking every day I make sure that I am getting a good variety in my meals.

Hugs

Little nippers out there, ain't it?

I don't think I even poked my head outside for more than letting the dog out to pee yesterday.

I had to start writing down on paper what I actually have in the fridge, so I could decide what to make for supper. Planning seems to be just so far off.....

Glenda, what happened to your neck?

Well another chilly day. That wind felt like it was coming off an ice berg.I hope tomorrow is warmer. I need to get a good walk in.

My neck is finally starting to feel better. Thank goodness.

Last night I managed to get over eight hours of sleep. I havenít gotten that in a while.

Hugs and good night to all.

Hey Jo. Yoga sounds good. I may look into something like that around here. Starting out easy for this old girl is the key, I think.
I have to start planning my trip West and start booking it. I am very excited about it and nervous at the same time. There are so many things to organize. It will certainly be an awesome journey.
Keep the Spark my friends. The destination on your journey is well worth the time and effort you put into getting there. Youíre health being the number one benefit.
Hugs to all

Hey Sparkers!

Ok, I made it through the holidays relatively unscathed. :-D

As I sit in my old position again, life isn't so bad. There have been some staffing changes, and it has really helped the team. It feels a lot more cohesive as a group. Except for a particular analyst, who always seems to out find the gossip and passes it along. She plans to retire in 2 or 3 years, so one can only hope.

I'm still trying to find my groove for the office, but it's getting there. I'm still planning out what cardio I will do next week, and I have to slow it down to 3 days a week to start. The yoga studio in the mall also offers guided meditation on Thursdays by donation, and that sounds like a wonderful idea. Unless there's Yin. Yin rocks. :-D

Keep up the Spark!

Jo

Hello peeps. I hope everyone had a good Sparkie day. The weather was very poor today so I didnít get out for a walk but I did my steps indoors. I also have a stiff neck. I must have slept badly last night. I did have a lovely super consisting of salmon, broccoli and baked potato.
How was your day?

Thanks again Jo for making this a sticky topic...

Well we are going to get a bit of weather overnight and tomorrow. I may not get out for a good walk weíll see...

I invested in a pair of ice grippers for my boots. We still have a lot of ice here and I am afraid of falling.

Itís my bedtime now so I must go. I am trying to get more sleep than what I was getting which was about six hours on average.

Have a good night peeps.

Hugs

Lori, I am hoping to move in the Spring or early summer. I donít want to travel in the winter and I canít send my pooch out (by plane) until warmer weather.I hope to go by train again and make some stops on the way, like Banff.I will enjoy the trip even more now that I am lighter and smaller.
I am happy to have met you my friend and want so much to get together again for a good old chat.
Hugs

Hey Glenda, wow!! Sounds like a lot has changed in your world. Yes. I've been crazy busy as usual. No rest for the wicked as they say, I didn't think I was that bad though. Ha ha.
Yes getting together will have to happen. When are you planning on moving. I'm so happy for you. You get to be closer to your girl and her family. She must be so excited. I know I was over the moon when mom and sad moved here. I'm trying to get back my routine but I'm having a hard time. It's a struggle but I'll get there. Always seems to be something but I'll get there. Got the Christmas decor down now to get it all out away. And straighten up again.

Anyway love I guess everyone is on a hiatus. So proud of you for continueing on your journey.
Your a rockstar. Xoxo chat soon. Hugs.

Busy day today. Vehicle appointment, lunch date, grocery shopping, etc.
Before I left this morning I took the time to review my motivation notes. I do that every now and then to reinforce my path in my journey in becoming healthier.
Anyways just thought I would check in here to see if any Sparkies have visited. I wonder where they are?
Have a good evening and a wonderful day tomorrow!

Hi there lady. Renos are all done Christmas and new year celebrations are all over and I'm ready to get back on my horse. We have a family friend here till Friday that is putting a hold on my efforts a bit but I'm making changes right now to help get me started back into my routine.
Very much looking forward to getting back at it. I've gained a few pounds back and I've got a wedding to stand in come July so I have set some goals and am excited to get started. Xo hugs to all.

Just thought I would get the ball rolling. How are you peeps holding up after all the celebrations? I survived rather unscathed having only one drink. The first for me in awhile.
