I agree with MAUITN, I'm also hypothyroid and Eat to Live is also the only thing that has really worked for me (besides working out like a mad man but that isn't sustainable).

I am hypothroid and a plant based diet (although I have wild raised fish on ocassion) has been very good to me. The quality and quantity are excellent, and with hypothyroidism, YOU MUST WORK OUT, because your engine (thyroid gland) is comprimised, so it will happen and you can believe in it.

OK.. First of all, I want to say that I know I am impatient. I want something to work 'right away' and I expect instant results. ESPECIALLY when I read in the book that it will happen that way. With that being said, I don't know how to just 'do' the program and trust that the weight will come off considering that I've been gaining and losing the same five pounds this last six weeks and I've done everything right (with the exception of drinking 2-3 quarts water, daily). I have now started making sure I get enough water everyday - Since Monday - it IS a priority now!! It's just that I've really have been putting forth a strong effort to lose the weight and now I'm just getting discouraged because I'm not seeing any results. It's not just thyroid issues I have, I also have PCOS and I"m pre-diabetic. So.. I'm tying to work through these issues...

Today, I made a smoothie with the following:
2 bananas
1.5 c. chocolate hazlenut milk
1 tbsp spirulina

Lunch: Eggplant goulash (no sodium tomato paste, eggplant, canned kidney beans, parmesean cheese sprinkled on top), Strawberries, 8 brussel sprouts, 1.5 cup cabbage

Dinner: 1 cup beans, 2 cup chopped raw spinach, 1/2 cup raw cilantro, 1 pt cherry tomatoes, 1 cup shredded carrots, 1 cup chopped cucumbers and honey mustard dressing (1 tsp ACV, 1 tbsp honey, 1 tbsp mustard)

Really this is my first day. I tried it yesterday and ended up eating alot of potatoes.. so, I'm starting over and trying again. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Well, you need to be eating lots of yummy fruits, vegetables, and legumes. That water is good, but not if you are bloated from too much water. What have you eaten today? Give us some idea so we can help with other suggestions.

Thanks for the input. I'm just frustrated is all. Today was my first real day of actually doing this and I'm stuffing myself with water and veggies and such and I feel so bloated and it's like all of the weight that I have lost, I have put back on and I could just scream and cry. I just want this weight off and I feel like I am making NO headway no matter how hard I work out, no matter how much I eat or how little. It's just frustrating. I want this to work!!

I am hypothyroid and the ETL plan is the ONLY thing that has ever worked for me.

well I don't know to much about Hypothyroid. but just remember not all carbs are created equal, fruits, veggies, beans, whole grains are good carbs.

Its the processed carbs that you have look out for.

Hello - I am not new to the ETL concepts but I have not followed the diet (only read the book). I have been diagnosed as hypothyroid and wanted to find out if anyone on this board has the same diagnosis and if the ETL eating principles helped them to shed the weight faster. I am curious because I've read alot about not eating too many carbs and the only way to do that is by eating meat which goes against the ETL principles.

Just wantd to get some thoughts and ideas...
