2.4 lbs this past week. I am halfway to goal!!!!!! And I get my bloodwork done next week and am really looking forward to seeing how the ETL program has helped me.

began with the mcdougall program monday with no weight loss and read about ETL on weds started ETL on thursday and have lost 5 pounds!! It is funny as there is just to much food to eat! i don't want to stuff myself as that is against everything I know but 5 pounds since thurs is amazing to me! I actually have hope that maybe I will be thin again!

I'm back on track!

Also, I found out my problem. Its called a broken scale. LOL! I am actually 2 pounds down on day 9. Woot! I thought it was crazy! HA!

Hmm. I'm only day 4 and the scale says I've lost 5 pounds! I'm sure the scale is wrong, because that seems implausible, but...I'll take it! ;)

I actually don't want to get hung up on weighing myself. I know the only way the changes will stick is if I focus on how I feel. And I'm amazed at how much better I feel after only a few days of NO JUNK!! My mood is better, my energy level is good, I feel more motivated. Pretty amazing, what nutrients will do!

and if anything I am probably too heavy on the sodium than Dr. Furhman would like. :/ I am watching it today though. I know my canned beans are way too much sodium, I rinse them well and try to get the lowest sodium can I can get but its still around 400 grams of sodium for a serving which is only half the can.

Thanks Brighteyed! I appreciate you taking the time.
I am no oils right now, I marinate my canned drained beans in balsamic vinegar and I roast my veggies on parchment paper. Only starch on the last 7 days had been twice I've made roasted veggies and have eaten it for dinner and then lunch the next day. When I make all those veggies its just 1 sweet potato, so thats a half a sweet potato which is about a serving when I eat those. I'm telling you this isn't my first round with etl, I know I am fully 100% committed this time of round, why I'm just stunned the weight is going up and not coming off. It could be bloated, I have an iud and barely ever get periods but did start one on day 2 of my 7 days, it only last 3 days but who knows what my body is doing this week with the iud, its always weird when I have a period since I'm almost 5 years with it now and can go a year without having one and once bled 3 weeks. So maybe thats it, I'm just gonna keep on keeping on then and hope it passes soon. Hrm. :/

Oh and I should add that it's often better to go by a tape measure around your waist than the scale, which can vary quite wildly (I've been known to get a 7-pound range all in the same day).

Hi STINA474,

I would say that it does seem unusual. But that doesn't necessarily mean you should be worried. A lot of things affect weight that aren't body fat, including water, fiber, hormones, what clothes you're wearing, how accurate your scale is, or whatever. If you really are following Eat To Live and you are currently overweight, the weight will come off at some point. But that means one serving of whole grain a day, no more (and that's not very much), don't overdo it on the nuts/seeds and avocado, be careful about salad dressings that can hide sugar and salt and oil, etc. Salt is a big one that will make your body hold onto water weight. Other than that, is there any possibility you could be pregnant? That'll certainly cause you to gain weight!

Is it normal to gain the first week? I'm writing down what I'm eating, I'm eating the most clean I have in 2 years this last 7 days and yet I'm up 5 pounds! ??? Is this normal? Is my system in shock? I'm 2.5 years vegan, did the 6 week plan twice when I first started 2.5 years ago and lost almost 50 pounds, just being vegan I kept it off most of the time with some fluctuation of 10 pounds and running off and on. I started eating too many carbs and shot up and gained 25 pounds back so 7 days ago I started the 6 week plan and I'm going by the book. Thoughts on why I would gain?

I've lost almost 2lbs this week, which is great! I've been leveled out for about 2 weeks, so the new low number was a welcome sight! I also put on a pair of jeans from the closet, and they fit! They are size 12, and just a couple months ago my size 16's were getting tight!

The 2 pounds from Monday are gone with some extra (down 2.5 today). YAY! Not retaining water and not being backed up make a huge difference! It was kind of a bummer to be back in the 'obese' bmi range, even though I knew it was not 'fat' weight. Glad it's gone again :)
