That kind of "mishap" would make me feel sad.
There are 2 priests (both 70) for 4 churches so I know they are busy. But the church bulletin says to put request for Mass intention in the collection basket. And that is what I did in plenty of time before his birthday. And to put it as "for those who passed on before us" then a few names was shocking. Left me speechless!
Our church is the smallest in the diocese. It only has 20 members. But Mass often has about 100 participants because it is in an area where people vacation.

Thank you for responding and I'm sorry for the loss of your Mom.

In my area the Church secretary handles the calendar for Mass intentions.
Unfortunately here, while each church has an office and a secretary, many Parishes have been merged and one Priest may be responsible for up to 3 separate Churches, so it's not like it was when I grew up and the priest lived in a rectory on the grounds of each Parish.

That being said, I do understand your feelings because the Priest who said my mother's funeral Mass mispronounced her name and referred to her as "he".

I’m very sorry you feel unimportant. I work part at my Paris office and a few people that are bothered by what our priest says or doesn’t say call and make a personal appointment to get or give clarification! This
is just a thought. I wouldn’t leave without seeking an answer. PS...you are important!

Barbara .....that's what my friends call me! Never cared for the name Barb.

Make it a blessed and healthy day! IT IS YOUR CHOICE!

Remember how special you are and how you are soooooo worth it to be healthy and fit!!

Today I feel so unimportant to my little church.
Last July I put a request for a Mass intention in honor of someone's 95th birthday. 2 weeks after the birthday the request still was not fulfilled. I asked the priest if he had received the request. No he had not, but said he would fulfill the request today. (For some reason almost 2 months after the birthday). During the prayers for the faithful, his name was mentioned as if he had passed away! After Mass, one of the parishioners asked the brother of the person named if that was his brother, I think ready to give condolences. The brother said no, that was his son, Jr. I did not clarify because I still felt speechless/ in shock.
On our way out, saying thank you and goodbye to the priest, the priest asked me how my Mom was. I said she passed away almost 2 years ago. I feel bad that he doesn't remember.
These are not the only things. There are some other little things. But these last 2 things really left me feeling unimportant. I have been a member for 6 years. I feel so unimportant. I feel like finding another church.
