Gotta love our governement. Most ministers dont do what they do for money. Many do not make a livable wage, especially when the serve the very poor. They do it because it is a calling. This weekends 2nd reading was about being a happy and willing servant of God. If maybe members of our governement read the bible once in a while they would know and understand that. It is not like they have legislation to read; they just figure they will find out whats in it once it is passed, - cheap shot but unfortunatly true.

What?!

That is absolutely ludicrous!

St. Maximillian Kolbe, St. John Vianney, and holy Canadian Martyrs (8 Jesuits who were martyred when ministering to the Huron people in early Canadian history),

Pray for us!

Oh! And I should add - Monsignor Morand (my first priest, my spiritual advisor and confessor, as well as the man who Confirmed me in the Church) - pray for us!

Martyrs = people willing to suffer for what is right.

The military only has 284 Active duty priests to serve 275000 Catholic military people and their families. So they contract out to priests or hire some under GS ratings. During the "shutdown" the government is telling those non-actve-duty priests that is they attempt to minister to their faithful, they will risk arrest and be considered in breach of their contract.

Even if they do it on a volunteer basis.

Really???

I have seen many instances where I thought people should be standing up and saying "Stick it to the man!" But this one take the cake. An I am pretty sure the other denominations in the Chaplain Corps are in similar straits.

I think it's time for We the People to tell the government a resounding "NO! You can't do that."
