The program our parish did before "ARISE" ( for several years) was CHRP: Christ Renews His Parish. Our Parish called it that. I did not partake in it. I was still very new & recouping from a major illness. So, I don't know anything that one, except people loved it!

I think that *is* the same program.

There was a French version years ago, that my in-laws participated in, and the one here now is called "Renew".

I am in Indiana: Ft.Wayne/South Bend Diocease. The program is called "ARISE Together in Christ" There are 6 sessions. We are on #3 "In the Footsteps of Christ". It's a spritual renewal and evangelization that helps deepen faith, relationship w/ Christ, community & to reach out to others. More info is @ www. renewintl.org We had changed parishes about a year or so before I started attend any classes or anything. I just was not feeling a "part" of the parish. Anyway, it is helping me alot deal w/ my own "issues"..... It's really helping me "give it up to the Lord" so to speak. I was just curios. Have a wonderful day :)

This is a perfectly fine place to ask questions like that! Thanks for posting!

I remember my good friend mentioning a program that was beginning in our archdiocese. Unfortunately, I have not heard anything about it from my parish, and actually forgot about it until your question. I wonder if it is the same program. I don't know much about the one here.

Have a question for any and all, and maybe I'm not asking in the right place. I am new, please bear with me and redirect me if I am doing something wrong.

I was just wondering if any of your churches were participating in the "ARISE" series of classes going on at many churches? And, if so, if you are participating?

Thanx,

Is anyone a little OCD about where they sit in church? i tend to always sit in a specific area. I go to mass by myself, but i always find a pew based on what my dad did. I do be mindful of sitting by someone new, or on the other side or other end of a pew. but for some reason i just prefer sitting in the front half on the left side.

I have been fighting some immature attitudes. I know better and i start with good intentions but i get careless and return to them too quickly. i do it because i have been feeling entitled to it, or that my way works better or is more efficint.

The real fact is i am being a brat and unprofessional on this issue and need to full understand and accept that before i am able to be more successful at some goals.

Sometimes I pray "undercover" and then the opportunity arises to reveal my clandestine activities.

The other day, I heard that the sister of my niece's husband has conceived a child after years and years. She is three months along. Well, we have been praying for them here on Catholic Critters in our 54-Day Novena for as long as I have known they were trying to conceive.

they didn't conceive until they stopped all their in vitro treatments, etc.

God is so good! I mentioned to my mother that we had been praying for them. The word will spread that God answered prayers!

To stay organized i just need to be a little less lazy. I'll admit i am scatterbrained and i do not like to always be on a strict schedule because then i get frustrated when something does not go to plan. i have gotten better about just doing a task and not just waiting for later.

on another note, i was listening to a radioshow and the speaker asked "Are you a Secret Agent Christian? Are you praying undercover?" i dont remember the whole thing but it was neat. Sometimes we hide our faith, our hope, and God's grace.

IMREITE, do you use a dayplanner? I use a "system" to help me keep up with things like house upkeep and general organization that I developed by reading books by Pam Young(Sidetracked Home Executives) and Marla Cilley(The FlyLady). Emily Barnes also has good books about getting things in order, too. I realized I was a SHE back in the late 70's and 80's and I have developed routines that give me a sense of stability, even when everything around me is falling into CHAOS(can't have anyone over syndrome...LOL!) My "system" has evolved over the years, and a lot of things have become good habits. My dayplanner gives me a bit of structure, and a feeling I have accomplished something every day. SP's tracker system has been a great help, and fit into my routines well. But being the SHE I am, I don't always follow my own advice! LOL! I'm SO good at being sidetracked!! Fortunately, my prayer life doesn't go off kilter often... it is non negotiable.
Speaking of which, time for my TAG... Time Alone w/God!!! He IS it!!!
Peace to all today!

I'm not spending as much time on SP, or on the 3 PC in general, right now. I must begin to prioritize my time, make more efficient use of it. Simplify. Unclutter the material, the physical, and the spiritual.
Come October 1, I'm going to try to begin again at the very basic level. I want to go back and use the food tracking I used each day 2 years ago. Follow it, and see if I can recapture the Spark I had in the beginning. I'm not who I was back then, and I have grown. But the food plans worked. That will help me to keep it simple again.
Life sometimes gets out of hand, and reconsecrating myself to the IHM has given me some clearer direction. Every day that passes I want to be less encumbered with the things of this life. I am content with less. I do not need as much to be "happy". My interior life has given me a Joy that makes happiness pale in comparison to the Joy. It goes far beyond "feelings" now.
SP has provided the tools to enable me to care for my physical body properly. It has granted me the privilege of getting to know others who have the Faith I hold dear. I am very grateful for SP! God is at work within SP, and is using it for His glory!
Hugs to all!
I'm off to go declutter my Wii stuff, and dust off the treadmill! LOL!

Crazy here as well! DH is very very very busy at his new job. We barely see him, and he is very stressed. Any prayers for him to keep his head above water and keep us sane keeping up the homefront would be appreciated!

Hey. I hear thunder. Maybe I can chalk our grumpy moods this morning to the barometric pressure or something!

This prayer was in my e-mail this afternoon... thought I would share it. It made me think when it mentioned Jesus being properly clothed in the mantle of my exterior being. SP is helping me keep my exterior being in shape.

Clothing Jesus: A Daily Prayer to Fulfill Our Only Purpose

Sweet Mother of God who is also my Mother, help me to be faithful and attentive to all Jesus wants of me today by doing everything for Him, with Him and in Him as if He actually lived in me.

Keep me completely abandoned and at peace doing all my actions under your Maternal gaze. Never let me go out of His Will; rather please insure that at every moment Jesus is properly clothed in the mantle of my exterior being.

I am formed in the image and likeness of God and He has created me solely to be perfect as He is perfect; and I must be completely conformed to His Will in all things and the graces He offers right now if I am to achieve my Purpose for existing.

Robert Hart (how you spend your time outside of work and sleep shows God and everyone how well you are achieving your only Purpose...should it not be on seeking to know, love and serve God with all your heart, all your mind and all your soul?)

CJ, I never went to sleep until 2 hours before I was supposed to get up! I was SO wired! LOL!
I had iced tea with my supper, then had a diet sundrop soda at bowling. Iced tea always keeps me awake if I drink it after noon, and then I added the soda(I thought to give me energy to bowl) and I really screwed myself up! I believe I made up for the lost sleep by taking the nap today. tonight should be good...
BTW, I made an SP recipe for today's lunch... a BBQ Pork Loin in the CrockPot. A small pork loin, 1 cup BBQ sauce, 1 cup soda(diet Pepsi, decaf) and a bit of chopped onion. Cooked on low for 6 hours. I didn't shred it, but it would have made great meat for sandwiches! I think I am going to throw some boneless chicken breasts into the CP( like I did the pork) tomorrow to have BBQ chicken sandwiches for supper. Maybe add a bit more onion to it, too. I use lower sodium, sugar BBQ sauce. I was supprised how good this was... certainly was easy!
Off to Wii a bit!

Great news about the bake sale.

I agree that things are off kilter when we worship the body, and not the Creator of the body! Good point.

emoticon to Our Blessed Mother! Today is the Feast of the Nativity of the BVM.
Our Church bake sale was a great success! Thank You, Lord!
I was home from Mass around 9:30am today, and was suddenly so sleepy that I laid down and took a nice three hour "nap" LOL!
I am continuing to read Flame of Love, the diary of Elizabeth Kindelmann. She was a Hungarian mystic who is recognized by the Church. Her movement is called The Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Church says her message amplifies the urgency of the message of Fatima. www.flameoflove.us/
I am realizing how SP is teaching me to take care of my "temple". The weight is an issue, but it is NOT the real issue... I am learning to respect my body, what a gift it is from God. I should show it the respect I show God. As I grow closer to God, I am going to take better care of myself, respect myself. The Church has all along respected the human body.
People have become blinded by worshipping the body and themselves... they seek to serve the creature instead of the Creator. Everything is off kilter. As we become more centered in HIm, the body will come in line also. We may not be able to undo the damage to our bodies the neglect (or illness)has caused, but God will honor our efforts to begin anew, and He will heal our souls. The soul isn't going to end. It is the natural progression of life for the body to waste away... to become dust again.
Let us nurture our souls, respect our bodies, and seek the will of God for our lives!
SP has given us tools to help take care of the body, and our Catholic SP teams can help us grow in our spirits!
I am SO grateful for everyone here!!!
BVM, Totus Tuus!! emoticon

*sigh* Yeah, it's strange that way, isn't it?

I remember one terrible argument about the Teachings of the Church. Everyone was yelling at me, and telling me how mixed up I was (and I was no angel either, I was shouting right back at them). Then, I answered a question, only to get bombarded with insults again. My nephew's girlfriend at the time (professed atheist), said, "Wait a minute. What she's saying makes sense. If such-and-such is wrong because of what she said, then this and that is also wrong. It's logical." No one else heard what she said, they were so angry and argumentative. But it goes to show, that sometimes support comes from the least likely places.

My Dh and I are converts so family discussion on Religion can be frustrating at best! The odd (at least to me) thing in my family is the family members I expected problems with, the ones who are very active in their church, have been completely supportive and asked honest questions about things they didn't understand.

It's the family members that never darken the doors of a church, party all weekend, and generally live a very secular life that criticize me and insist that I now worship idols!!

Oh, how frustrating! I have had many family times marred by discussion regarding religion and people's beliefs. I don't know what is worse - the discussions where others who share my (our) Faith cut it down or belittle it, or those discussions wherein others who do not share the Faith belittle it. Probably the ones where fellow Catholics badmouth the Faith. They get me down the most. And I always wish there was something I could say or do to change their mind, but I am notoriously bad at it, that's for sure!

wasw visiting family this weekend. it was fun for the most aprt, but my did get annoyed with 1 of my cousins. he just got engaged to the girl he was living with for several a couple years and were upset to find out they could not get marries in the catholic church, another cousin said "i dont not why it is a big deal. most people do these days. besides at least they were honest. most people lie about it" Seriously!?!? people lie to the priest before they get married?
But that is the problem. we have lowered the standards so much. The didn't ask why or try to work through their Pre-cana class. This is why people dont think much of catholics or christians because we care to much about going along with our sinful society instead of being the better option. i did not want to start a fight or drama, especially because i rarely see them,

My DH of 11 years is not practicing any faith (but encourages me and thinks highly of Pope Francis) and he refuses to lie to a priest. In fact over the years he has met several priests from my parents church/school and enjoys talking to them. He has admited that if he grew up around my family when he was younger he would have seen faith in action and been a believer. That is why i hate when he sees my family be so dismissive of sin. it is embaressing because i am trying to keep him seeing hope and the people who could help me are being Bad Catholics.

Just got in from Vigil Mass... sure wish we could go on Sundays instead of during the week, if we needed to!
Too long a day for me... I'm off to bed.

Can my American sparkfriends let me know which days are Holy Days of Obligation in the States? I guess I could google it ...

We have 2 here. Yes. That's right. TWO only: Christmas Day and New Year's Day. The Canadian Bishops, with approval from the Holy Father, have transferred all the other days to the nearest Sundays. But, I try to go for the American ones as well, when I can.

emoticon Good Morning, BABCIATEA emoticon
I was able to "catch" one small falling star this morning... I love meteor showers! God's fireworks! emoticon
It appears the wrist brace the rheumy doc asked me to wear is working. No numbness in right hand when I woke up. Of course, the C-Pap does help me sleep. I found a neat phone app that I used to go to sleep. It really DID ease me into sleep! It is called Relax Time. Has a timer, so the sounds stop when you set them to go off. Nice!
Now to have TAG, a cup of coffee, and get the day rolling!
Hope everyone has a blessed day!

Thought I'd share this nice prayer...

A Prayer

Loving God, we love how You love us. We love how You free us. We love what You have given and created to surround us. Help us to recognize, and to rejoice in, what has been given, even in the midst of what is not given. Help us not to doubt all that You have given us, even when we feel our very real shortcomings. We thank You for the promise and sign of Your love in the Eternally Risen Christ, pervading all things in the universe, unbound by any of our categories of logic or theology.

We offer You ourselves back in return. We offer You our bodies, our little lives, our racing minds and restless hearts into this one wondrous circle of Love that is You. My life is no longer just about me, but it is all about You.

Thank You, God for a new month! July was just not too pleasant for me, but God is still in charge!
I'm looking forward to the 30th Novena... I hope everyone has an opportunity to participate in one of the CC Novenas at some point in their Spark Journey. Please add your intentions to our list, even if you are unable to share in praying the Novena at this time. Praying a Rosary is a powerful thing! Life changes with prayer!
I hope to be back into the swing of Sparking soon. Sometimes just doing the best you can is enough...
May God grant us all His peace and bless us with the Holy Spirit's fire for life!

Hi, I've been taking time to help my parents and for the moment I think things are looking up for them. I am stressed out, tired and fighting a sinus infection. Sarcoid, diabetes plus stress adds to my low immunity system, but I know being back here will help!

God bless and keep us all, forever and ever. I am having a good time with more family in town this week. My mother is doing better than I had thought she would be after her heart trouble. We had a good time at my niece's wedding over in South Dakota with my sister who was the mother of the bride. We are all going to a concert in the Park on Tuesday, that I am looking forward to. We made some interesting sorbets today and I made some of my Low Fat Italian Almond Cookies as well, such good food today!

Well said about evil and freedoms, IMREITE! So glad you found your niche at Church. emoticon
We had a nice 4th... went bowling. Bowled Friday night, too. Watched the PBA tournament for 5 hours yesterday. The Pro's make it look so easy, but they aren't perfect either, so I enjoyed sitting there and seeing that they don't always get a strike! It was SO hot in the lanes! I do not see how they didn't fall out by the 8th game! It was fun being there. DH was bored, but he was gracious and humored me.
Damp, gray day here. Not feeling too good. It will pass! Staying inside and chilling today.
Have a great week!

I think i found my calling at church - being a greeter. I go to mass early about 20-30 minuts and i get a name tag and get to talk to people that i know and dont know.

i say it is a calling because i love to gab but i am bad with remembering names.so basically i found a church job that relies on my natural skill of gabbing.

I was thinking of gratitude for my freedoms and the ones that I have taken for granted. What an amazing concept! Having the right to think and believe what you want. How many places in the world do people not have that right? God’s original plan was for us to have free choice and live in peace. Sin entered. People used free choice to do evil. Some of that evil is used to enslave others, either physically, spiritually or mentally. We did not have thousands of pages of laws to tell us what to do. We were given 10 commandments. Simple rules on how to treat and act towards others. Jesus gave us 1 rule - Love one another as I have loved you. So God’s plan was for us to have all these freedoms and to love and each other. Sounds wonderful. Yet we have gotten away from this vision. Evil is still with us and if we are not diligent about fighting it, we will loose these freedoms.

Thanks, CJ! =)

I'm very much looking forward to Mass tomorrow morning. I was unable to go the past 3 weeks in a row b/c I've been very sick due to my diabetes being out of control. I was able to make to to one of the daily morning Masses a week ago and I received the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. I have steadily been feeling better as each day passes.

That is a great goal - to weigh less than your husband. That was a goal of mine as well.

I'm almost there, I think, unless he has put on weight this past month of stress at work.

And I don't think your goal is silly at all. Most women are usually supposed to be lighter than their husbands as the men are usually bigger and taller than their wives. When we weigh more than they do, more often than not it is because we are heavier than we should be. Wanting to head in the right direction, and be once again lighter than they are is a great, attainable goal!

Go for it!

Thanks for the encouragement. =) DH is only slightly overweight. At 6'5", his ideal weight is about 220-225. He has a lot of muscle mass from lifting weights daily and he also does sit-ups, crunches, and pushups daily. I think his biggest downfall has been pouring in all the Pepsi over the years. I'm very proud of him b/c he finally gave it up about 2 weeks ago and now it's only water for him too!

My DH needs to lose weight, too, and we have both put on pounds as we have dealt with some medical issues. I'm taking charge of what we eat more, especially at home, and hoping he and I will both begin to shed some pounds... He should weigh about 20 pounds more than me when we are at goal weight. I think your goal is great!
I have set a few "to-do's" for today... I have friends on FB that we've set up a "SHE's working" group, and we list our plans "to do" for each day, and keep each other accountable. SHE = Sidetracked Home Executive... We need help in staying focused when it comes to housework, etc.
I get a lot done when I have someone walking the walk with me... that's why SP works, too!
Off to have my morning Time Alone w/God! Will remember all in my prayers!

My I just wanted to share my new goal and it may sound silly. I want to weight less than my husband. He is 6'5" and weighs 238 lbs. I started at 333 and am down to 265. 28 more lbs to go and I will be 1 pound less than him. :) I know, it does sound kinda silly *shrug*

Well said, IMREITE!!!
One of the things I love about His Holiness is his lack of "flash"... he dresses well, but simply, and does not place himself in the forefront when it comes to acclaim or being noticed. The other Popes followed the status quo, and I find Pope Francis refreshing in that he is his own person, and seeks to live as he has preached. The other Popes were holy men, too, and did as they felt they were called to live. It is time for a Pope who promotes Christ first, and lets everything else fall into place from there.
I was very young when I went to the Vatican, and although I enjoyed being there, I was not where I am spiritually, and would love to return one more time while Pope Francis is Vicar. I've been to so many wonderful places in Europe, but I did not have the mindset at the time to understand what a privilege I was granted to be there twice, and the importance of the holy places I had set foot in.
I will probably never get back overseas, but perhaps I can see holy places here in the US. I would love to go to Birmingham and see EWTN, or to Chicago, New York, Washington and visit the churches. I've seen more of Europe than my own country. It is sort of sad... yet, I can do something about it, if I so choose.
I've had an interesting four days at home... not done much of anything but the basics of houseblessing, bookwork, reading, and making sure DH has been fed well...LOL!
emoticon We did go bowling yesterday. It is such fun and great exercise. I'm looking forward to when our church league starts in August. emoticon
I took today's SparkCoach challenge, and fixed my lunch to take to work tomorrow.
In fact, I made three "salad in a jar" so I can have a nice salad each day with my entree. If you've not seen the FB details about how to make a salad in a jar, let me know, and I'll give you the details. It has revolutionized my attitude about taking salad to work! LOL!
Now to get back to reading "Story of a Soul". emoticon
Hope everybody is having a nice afternoon!

Why I like pope Francis-
There was an article about the pope skipping a concert because he " had too much pastoral work to do to attend social events." and thought bishops should be "close to the people" and not have "the mentality of a prince".

I like the fact tha the reminds catholics and non-catholics that people who take vows are servents of God, not to governments or personal desires. i like how he willingly embraces simplicity aed a way to be closer to God and to serve.

I am looking forward to seeing the Vatican one day.

What a neat idea to discuss the saint of the day at bedtime.

My children used to sit on my bed and they would take turns reading about the Saint of the day. It was a great experience. † We spent time in Italy and visited the Vatican when they were grown. Being in Vatican City was a dream come true. I am glad they still have the spiritual journey as part of their lives. Unfortunately we missed seeing the Pope because our plane left before we could be at the audience.

I think that now, with different techniques, the braces "ordeal" might be less so.

Glad the dreaded appointment went okay!

I think it's great to start teaching your youngest the Rosary! I was 40 before I knew what the Rosary was or how to pray one but it's now the way I start my day!

I had my dental appointment that I dreaded so badly but it was fine. Maybe 5 years of braces is why I dread the dentist so much.

What a neat idea! I'm sure you know them best, and can sense that they are ready. Even if they are not ready for a whole rosary yet (and they might be), just learning the prayers and maybe saying a decade with you is a fabulous start.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

This weekend, I was entertained and delighted when my youngest son (3 1/2 yrs old) decided he wanted to say Grace before Sunday dinner. It was the most eccentric and lovely prayer I've heard in a long time, truly from the heart.

I'm thinking of getting my youngest 2, the "Monster Tot Twins" started on learning the Rosary prayers. Now that they're approaching 4 yrs old, they've gotten comfortable with Grace before meals, morning prayers and bedtime prayers, so they might be ready. Perhaps I should lay in a stock of inexpensive rosaries before I begin. I have a feeling that little beads will be cascading all over our floors for the next little while as they get used to the new routine.

Leah - I agree - a great post, and one I needed to hear as well. I need reminders sometimes to obey when something is asked of me.

Have a great week everyone. Keep sparking!

I decided to sleep later this morning, and go to 11am Mass. I always get there early. I like to read my Magnificat for the morning, and just spend some time in adoration. But not today! The sacristan grabbed me and asked if I would hand out bulletins. I did. Never done it before, and it was nice to greet everybody. I got to see parishioners I'd never seen before... Since I never made it to a pew, the sacristan then asked if I would bring up the offering. I'd never done that before, either, at this parish. I ended up sitting along the back wall, so I could get to the offerings at the right time. No kneeler. I learned how set in my ways I am, and how self centered I am... but God thumped me over the head, and I was grateful for the gifts I was given this morning. I admit it was different sitting at the very back and not being able to kneel. I didn't get to do my pre-Mass reading. I was sandwiched in between two late parishioners. YadaYada. What was a little discomfort when it was obvious the HS has chosen me to do these jobs on this day? I am humbled and I am thankful I was able to be used. Did I want to? At first, no. But I remembered how St. Therese says to do everything for God. To obey when He presents something for you to do, and it is out of your comfort zone. My attitude was adjusted! Thank You, Lord.
Going to go use my Wii, and play with the budget the rest of the afternoon.
AFTER I do my Morning TAG...LOL! DH has been fed lunch, kitchen is cleaned, and I am ready to enjoy my Sunday afternoon!
God IS so good!

Just sitting here this morning trying to get started... checked in with SparkCoach. I decided to "act as if" this morning. I am going to act as if I feel good! I fixed myself a cup of carmel coffee, toasted a sandwich thin, added an egg and cheese to it, and sliced up some fresh strawberries to go with. Now to my Morning TAG. Then I am going to prioritize my day, and GET TO IT!
I shall SPARK this day... and give God the praise and glory for allowing me to live it! emoticon
May everyone have a blessed day!
Peace be with you!

There is a huge joy in my life . DH and I to go with him, girl friend and new baby. We would have preferred a different order for things but are happy that he wants the Church for his little daughter and self. I am praising our dear Lord for this step in Sons life

I have not been to Mass since I fell and hurt my leg. I find it hard to get to Mas when I am hurt. Part of that is my years of illness as a teen when it was not possible to get to Mass.

I've heard quite a few masses in Spanish, and one or two parts of a mass in latin before. However, since I learned Latin in the public schools and the majority of it was pre-Christian church, I have difficulty getting used to some of the italianized pronunciations. (I did love some of the later cute stuff like a roman judge Pliny, not knowing what to do with this newfangled group called Christians....they learned they weren't cannibals, and they were nice, good workers, helpful...but just wouldn't bow down to the Roman gods! What was he to do about them? LOL The one of the first popes...giving advice to his nephew to get his education...not for church reasons, so cute...but all the leaders and even heroes like Hercules are doing it! I would love to go to a mass in Italian...preferably in Italy....say my prayers.....

A better tomorrow, starts NOW!

St Peter and Paul Church in the North Beach area of San Francisco has Not only Italian Mass but Mass in Chinese but I am not sure what dialect. I was there on Palm Sunday one year and stood through the Passion in Italian and the "Palms" were Olive branches. Really cool.

JUNEBUG4967, my parish had special prayer for the people who were affected by the tornadoes, and is collecting special funds for them. I have a friend on a forum who was updating all of us as she was in her basement! LOL! Her DH is in the Army, and she was alone with her 2 little girls in the basement. They are fine, PTL!
Gail, I am glad you enjoyed the challenge... I'm not quite up to challenges, yet. I'm still trying to get into a daily movement habit. My bowling twice a week in now a given, since I am on 2 leagues, but I MUST find something I can enjoy on a daily basis... "If it isn't fun, it won't get done" Pam Young and Marla Cilley(AKA FlyLady)
I've had my Wii for 6 years(tons of fitness games)... a treadmill... BIG exercise balls... and I can't seem to stick with any of it. Although I have bowled every week for almost a year now. So there IS something that gets me moving!
I cannot imagine a Polish Mass! I would love it! I like changing things up a bit. My heart belongs to the Folk Mass. And the Latin. But I will go to any kind of Mass, just for the experience. There are lots of different types of Masses around my area(I mean, the ethnicity & music are different). I would like to visit one of our Vietnamese parishes.
I know Summer isn't officially here, but neither does it feel like Spring anymore... so I started the Summer Thread a bit early. emoticon emoticon
Has looked like rain all day, and not a drop has fallen. Had I felt like getting out and gardening a bit, it would have rained all day! LOL!
DH just came into room and said weather shows a sever storm is coming, so I guess I will shut it all down. BBL! I hope! Peace be with all!

Friday, I got enrolled in college, went to see about some stuff at the unemployment office, did a bit of grocery shopping and them came home and did tornado drills until 11.
I LOVE Oklahoma, but Lord, all the prayers for rain last summer..........we have enough in OK City now! (We are 14+ inches above normal for the year) We had almost 8 inches in a few hours last week and another 8 approximately on Friday evening!! Please send some down to the southwest part of the state as they still need some!
We are fine here at our house, but many others were not so fortunate over the past couple of weeks. Please keep my neighbors around this area in your prayers.

We prayed in union with the Holy Father before Mass today... Have not done this in a long time but all the words just came back. It was beautiful.

Since we homeschool and DD is finishing 12 years at home this spring, we were done on May 15. So we've been in our summer mindset for a while, even though it's only 60 degrees today! DH finished school on Friday. (He's a teacher.)

Thus, we are all adjusting our speedometers DOWN, which is great. I am so tired of running. So are the kids. We've been doing lots of reading and movie watching here. Also, soccer finishes next weekend for all (players and my 3 game officials), so we will get our weekends back too.

As to the Marian Shrine Tour, that was only running for the month of May. And we made two round trips, so we were able to visit each shrine twice. Glad you enjoyed that tour, Gail.

A little sunshine here and a soccer win by DS' team will make my Sunday! emoticon emoticon

Hello everyone!
Here in Canada, we do not get out of school until the end of JUNE.

However will I last?

Oh, well. I console myself with the knowledge that we do not go back to school in the fall until after Labour Day! emoticon

Polka Mass - thanks for explaining it. Sounds great. I'm glad that the older folks were able to enjoy it!

Gail - what do you mean about the Marian sites? Did you guys visit all the places already?

I think that I could handle that type of mass...however, I'm not sure that I could a heavy metal mass... LOL

I thought summer wasn't until about the 20th of the month, but then, when school's out I always consider it summer really anyway. So, here I am...just checking out the new thread...

By the way, my lil fingers are lost not posting to the marian tour thingy....we can't go around the world and visit sites?

My sister and mom visited me this weekend. it was my first time lectoring at this parish and it was also my first POLKA mass. I was nervous but my mom was so excited becasue she has not ben to a polish mass in years.

to answer questions i was getting about polish mass - yes, we had a polka band thta played the hymns.. they were the same hymns and samy melodies, just with the polka band and some were a bit faster in speed. The older people that could barely walk to communion but were grinning and bobbing their heads. We are doing a picnic day tomorrow after the 9am mass as well with polish foods and games.
