I know that I am taking responsibility for my failure; I have no successes right now because I am at a stand still right now.

However, I strongly believe that attending these meet and greets is going to be a strong force in my recommitment and reconnection with this journey.

You've got a point there! I think I've been like you for yrs. Always depending on others to help me through different things. But if I want to reach a goal, I need to step out on my own and do things for myself. It's hard at times, because I don't always want to do it on my own, lol. I think I've been back and forth with the responsibility thing this year. I've turned 30 today it's time to make my choices and stick to them, make ME important again. Put me on my priority list. I can't depend on others anymore to get the exercise in that I need, I can't depend on others to go for walks when I want/need to, so if I want to do it, then I have to do it myself! I've also figured out where I get it from... the not wanting to step out on my own all the time, branch out on my own, etc. I've watched my mom for years depend on my dad and others for many different things. She does do some things on her own, but when it comes to her health and needing to exercise she, it seems like, she waits for someone to come along and take her by the hand and get her motivated or something which is not a good thing. I've been that way for a long time myself until I joined SP and then finally kicked my butt into gear and exercising for ME and not waiting for someone else.

This is such a good reminder!

I know in my previous attempts to lose weight I was always counting on other people to help me along. I counted on my best friend for food support, I counted on my husband (now ex) to go with me to the gym, I counted on my mom for encouragement, and the list could go on and on. And I always failed. Eventually my friend would want Wendys, my husband wouldn't want to exercise, and my mom would get busy with something, and I'd be left without the strength to continue. This isn't saying anything negative out them, it was me with the deficit of courage, and strength that I needed in order to succeed.

This time I took matters into my own hands. I know that I am the one who has to live with my choices. So I go to the gym in the morning on my own now, and then on Sunday Michael (the boyfriend) and I go together. My friends and I go out to meals together still, but now I'm responsible for what I choose there, and I don't cave (as often) to the fattier choices because I'm the only one that is going to regret them later. And I still love my moms encouragement, but I also encourage and motivate myself so that when I can't talk to her I'll still be able to succeed.

This is my time to set things straight in my life. I'm doing it right this time, and I know I am going to succeed!

QUOTE – “The best place to find a helping hand is at the end of your own arm.” - Swedish proverb

Q – ARE YOU TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR SUCCESSES?

We all need support from other people. Love, encouragement, words of advice and friendship will help you get through the important stages in your life. When people are in your corner, you feel like taking on any challenge. As important as help from others may be, though, it all has to start with you. If you're waiting for someone to solve your problems, or wondering when someone is "going to do something about that," you may be waiting a long time--unless you look to yourself first. Take responsibility for your own situation and think of what concrete steps you'll take today to help it. If you're going to need help, it's only fair that the person with the most at stake (you) is willing to make the most effort. When someone is pulling you out of a hole and has grasped your hand, you still must take the first step to climb out, or you're just going to be hanging there.
