and, i did forget to say, we did not stay the night at one of the hotels (though some are very nice, i would recommend a condo if you are lucky enough to snag one on one of the busiest weeks in daytona!) we live close enough to drive for the day! we love our florida lifestyle :)

we loved our nosebleeds. with my asthma, it was better for us not to be too near the fumes. also, you could literally feel the blue angels overhead! for the close up stuff, they have those mega screens, so really didn't make a difference to us. you could see the whole track from where we were (and all of daytona lol). a tip, parking sux! you will either have to get there very early and pay an arm and leg, or walk a mile or two. good thing is, though, there are a ton of parking lots along speedway blvd from 95 all the way to the track and past, i'm assuming (we parked nearby 95). there will be monster drink stands, as well as soda and water, all along the walk. be prepared to make it a whole day event, with parking, speed channel festivities, fanzone, daytona 500 experience, and just hanging out with what has to be the most ecclectic bunch of fans i've seen at a sports venue.

Just received my tickets in the mail for the Coke Zero 400 on July 2, 2011 in Daytona!! We will be in Campbell Box , Sec D, Row 10. Smack in the middle on the finish line. We aren't at the top, so can't quite see the other side of track, but can see more activity for parade and other close up things.

Also got the Sprint Fanzone Passes. The gates open at 10 AM and race doesn't start until 7:30 Pm. Plenty of time for all activities in the infield. Martina McBride giving an hour long concert. Maybe we can get on TV for Speed Channel pre-race coverage!

This is how to turn a Disney vacation into something even more memorable. My husband and I have only been to one Nascar race in Pocono, so this will be really fun for my two kids (31 & 16). Although probably same temperature. It was really hot in Pocono that August day!

Tickets are always available. Don't pay scalper prices because you can buy from the track.
I went once and sat near the top at the end of pit road. Pretty good position to see most of the track.
Some tracks are discounting or offering special packages. Here in Charlotte last year they had $39 tickets! Not the best of seats but it's a cheap way to see the race.
Best thing to do is check their website. The new fan experience is supposed to be really great. There's also the museum at the track.

Have fun.

Hi,
Our family will be going to Disney from 6/27-7/10/11, and we would like to go to the Saturday 7/2 Daytona race. I was wondering if, first, how did you get ticket?. Is there anything like a discounted price? Does Daytona ever offer discounts? I signed up for their emails, but only got something about the Daytona 500 a week before in February.

Also, if you went, what section were you in, and did you like the seats? Or you could elaborate about the pit passes and the activity before the race. Since this is a night race, we have plenty of time to spend prior.

I've only been to one Nascar race before (Pennsylvania 500 in Pocono), so this with my two teens will be fun, and a nice break from Disney.
