What a TREMENDOUS race Kasey Kahne drove! emoticon The Ford was smokin' hot and Kasey drove it with few or no mistakes. If his pit crew had been a little better and faster, he would have won the race hands down.

Kasey is a man on the move! emoticon He is going to be a major factor in the Chase this year, believe you me!

NASCAR usually hands down penalties on Tuesdays. I suspect we will see a major fine and points deduction.
I would be shocked if they sat him for a race, that is rare and the last time was Harvick(?) for actions (fighting and retaliation) in a truck race and they parked him for the Cup race that weekend.
As was said on the Fox broadcast "If they want to let them run......"
They can't just turn their backs to this one. I am heartbroken by Carl's actions.

I was pretty disappointed with Carl Edwards, but at least NASCAR decided that what he did went beyond just giving him a talking to in the trailer after the race. I hope that they continue to deal with bad actors in the same way in the future. I feel strongly that they should "let the boys race." But I feel equally strongly that when one of the drivers does something as obviously intentional and dangerous as what Edwards did he needs to be punished in a way that involves more than just a tiny little slap on the hand.

Aside from that incident, the parts of the race that I was awake to watch were pretty exciting and I hope that we can continue to see some good racing this year. I do hope that they do something to stop the cars from flipping over the way Keselowsi's did today, and it sounds as though NASCAR has some plans to address that situtation. I hope it happens before someone gets badly hurt or killed in one of those crashes.

I watched a lot of the race but had company and could not watch the last parts of the race. I saw the wreck with Brad later on the sports section of the news. Brad and Carl had problems earlier. Bound to happen but disappointed in carl.
I was so glad that 48 did not win. Shame that Jr and Jeff had such tire issues. Missed who won but had hoped it was Kasey. He was doing so good the last I saw.

It was a good race and I was hoping JPM or KK would get the win.

The parts of the race that I saw were pretty good. I wanted to watch the whole thing, but I didn't get to sleep last night until about 3:00 this morning so I was pretty darn tired and I was starting to fall asleep in front of the TV even though it was a pretty exciting race. I watched the first hour and a half, took a nap, and then when I woke up my favorite driver had gone from the top 10 to 28th place and a lap down. Oh well, just goes to show that I should really try harder to get enough sleep so that I can stay awake to watch the whole race. emoticon

So anyway, I woke up from my nap in time to watch about the last 40 laps or so. I was pretty not impressed with Carl Edwards' stunt, but what I watched of this week's race was actually pretty good. And I got my wish as far as getting a different winner this time. emoticon

Lets hope we start seeing some changes. I love cheering for the underdog at the last few laps. Maybe sunday will make that happen. Glad that Jr is starting on the pole. Just hope he has a good race. No matter what he is still my favorite. But like I said I love yelling for an underdog.

As much as I loved it all those years ago when Jeff Gordon was winning all the races the way Jimmie is today, I really love it when someone completely unexpected wins a race. Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, even my favorite driver (Gordon)....they're all winners. You expect them to win races. (Though these days I don't really expect anyone but Johnson to win. emoticon ) To me it's much more exciting to see a good, competetive race that's won by a guy who hasn't won in a long time or hasn't ever won before. When the racing gets to be too predictable it just makes me want to take a nap. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

I also have to agree about Johnson. No fun to watch. My main man is Ryan Newman with Smoke coming in as second choice. I know Ryan hasn't done well since winning the Daytona 500, but I can see that he and Smoke are coming along. Good luck to both of them.

The 'new' track configuration at Bristol is going to make for some fun. They have pushed the safer barriers out 3 feet in turns 2 & 4 shortening the track width by 3 feet. Tight racin just got tighter (and madder)

I know now how people felt when Jeff Gordon was winning 13 races in a season and a couple of championships in a row. I can live with Jimmie winning, but they're not always particularly exciting races when you know before they start (or even halfway through) who's likely to win. This was actually a pretty good race but the finish would have been more exciting if Gordon had just been smart enough to get tires on his last pit stop.

Oh well....I don't want to go on and on until I sound like I'm sucking on sour grapes emoticon Maybe this Sunday will be better....

I'm with you on that one. Whether you like Jeff Gordon or not (and I do), you should be pretty ticked off at him for not taking on new tires when he had the chance. We could have had someone besides Jimmie winning a race, but no....Jeff doesn't need tires, he needs track position emoticon

NITEWALK6 hit the nail on the head about JR. He will never be the driver or the man that his father was. He cannot fill Sr.'s shoes and should get out of the car and into the bar.

Jr had a typical mechanical failure although they speculated it could have been driver error. He broke a rear axle on a pit stop and they didn't have a replacememnt in their pit and had to make a lengthy repair.
I hate to say it but that boy should stick with bar and car owning and give up his seat.
He is in the same Hendrick equipment as Martin, Johnson and Gordon but can't even get a sniff of the top 10?!?!
