One thing you can always count on me for is to be blunt and not try to hide my true feelings about things. It ticks people off from time to time, but I'd rather be this way and not have people wondering if I'm really saying what I mean. Once in a while I do go overboard with the bluntness thing and I always like to apologize when I feel that I have. I don't know whether or not Nezab24 will ever read my apology, but I really am sorry that she felt like she needed to leave the group because of hearing too much of certain opinions.

There was much rejoicing!

Nitehawk I am an 88 fan all the way. Know he has not done that great but I will stand by him, But I have also stated that I root for the underdog if he is winning. And it does not bother me when people say things against him. Glad you are not slinking away. I do enjoy both you and Val stating your opinions. That is what this team is all about as far as I can see. Thank you Kathy for you Comments. I will keep trying to come up with things to keep this team going till the new season starts.

Thank you all for your positive comments.
Months ago it was pointed out this was "a spirited group who are free and open to speak their minds. Mainly because it's mostly in fun." I don't think anyone has ever taken a shot verbally at another member or even criticized their opinion. We are free to disagree.
I am a Juan Montoya fan as well as Robby Gordon. Both have been bashed on this forum and I didn't take it personally or let it ruin my day.
I do agree the NASCAR needs to take a long look at things. If you read any of the Fox Sports or Facebooks feeds there are a lot of unhappy fans. In the past you rarely saw empty seats at the Sunday races, this year there were a lot. Granted the economy was a factor but when they can't sell $39 seats at Lowe's there IS a problem.
I rescind my departure and will not be slinking away.
How boring would it be if this was a 24 or 48 or 88 fan club.

I think I feel about Johnson the way that a lot of people felt about Jeff Gordon when he was winning everything for a few years there. People would tell me "oh, you only like him because he's winning" and I would tell them that no, I picked him out as my driver in his rookie year when he was still running into walls.

I have a dear friend who chose Johnson as his driver simply because he had been winning a lot and I think that makes me predisposed to not like seeing Johnson win more than anything else does. But I actually do like Jimmie Johnson and I'm not entirely unhappy to see him doing so well. I just wish that NASCAR would give up this Chase garbage.

Wasn't the whole idea of the Chase to make things more exciting for the fans by rewarding the drivers for winning races? Well as I have already stated, I think that the Chase has just led to more driver's racing for points and not necessarily for a win, and to me that makes the racing a heck of a lot less exciting. I'm not going to belabor that issue today since we've all heard a lot about that in recent weeks.

Shirley, I think that you're doing just fine as the group leader and that you have nothing to apologize for. I think that the point in time at which you took over as group leader made things a bit more difficult for you and I hope that you'll stay on as group leader into the new season.

And Nitewalk, apparently I missed most of your griping about Johnson because of when I came into the group. Here I thought that I was the one who had been the worst offender.... emoticon Don't worry about speaking your mind because there's not much point in even having this group if you can't do that. Once in a while someone is going to get offended and quit the group, but I think that the group will probably survive and go on. When I wrote my message yesterday I mostly just wanted to apologize if I had made anyone other than Nezab24 feel so disgusted that they might want to leave the group. Anyway, it's all good emoticon emoticon

HI all, Hope everyone is doing well. Nitehawk Shirley is right you are entittled to state your opinion. I think we are all tired of seeing Johnson win, it has taken a lot away from watching the races. Mostly I think Nascar is ruining the sport. I watch a lot less. How many times has the "lucky Dog" changed the out come of a race and possibly the championship?!

It's good to have positive comments also, but sometimes if your driver isn't doing well, it is hard to find some to say. So carry on team, speak your minds but be sure to be considerate also.

Nitehawk no one has to slink away. I feel we should all be able to express our feelings. If everyone agreed there would be nothing to discuss. I just hope that we can keep this team together.

i struggled with making this post because I am probably the most vocal in criticising that team. Earlier in the year people were on me because of it and I posted the 12 times that Chad has been busted for "pushing too far." This has happened in every series he has been involved in. Most people were unaware of those facts.
That said, that team has one four in a row and looks like a dynasty. Hendricks cars finished 1,2,3 & 28. I could say stuff about the team that finished 28 but there are a number of his fans on this forum as well.
Like any other sport the fans get tired of the sport when the same team wins all the time. The Yankees are a prime example. How many Yankee haters do you know?

Bottom line..... I'll slowly slink away into the nite since I'm the snake.... nite all. OUT!

Lets hope that next year when the races begin we can get into lots more good discusions about the races. I just took over as team leader and tried my best to get people to talk about the racers and the race that was going on. I am new at this and didnt know how to get things going. I tried each day for a chat but that didnt seem to work. If anyone can give me some suggestions I sure would appreciate it. Would like this to be a fun place where we can talk bout things like our favorite driver or about any of the drivers.

Nezab24 sorry you feel you need to leave us. Maybe if things work out better next year you will come back to the team

You know, I was too tired to think much about this last night, but Nezab24 is absolutely right. Lately we do spend more time criticizing NASCAR the organization than chatting about NASCAR the group of really good racers. I'm as much at fault for that as anybody is, and I'm going to try not to do as much of it in the future.

And she's right about something else, too. JJ and Chad were not caught cheating this year, so it's not at all right for me (or anyone else) to assume that they did it this year. The problem that's going on there is that once you've told a lie or cheated or done some other bad thing, everyone is going to expect you to do it again in the future and assume that you have. The 48 team was caught cheating only one time. Yeah, you can say that if they did it once they probably did it other times too. But every team pushes the envelope to try to gain an advantage and some of that borders really closely on cheating, too. So I'm going to try to let go of the assumption of cheating unless it's proven again at some time in the future.

I'm going to air one gripe today and then try to let it be. I'm really sick of the Chase and all that goes along with it. I have always thought that points racing really sucks, and that's most of what the Chase is all about. So I'll wait to see what kind of racing we get next year before I decide about whether or not to schedule another activity on Sundays. Anyway, I apologize to anyone else who feels the same way that Nezab24 feels.

There was much rejoicing!

Please accept my resignation from this team immediately. The reason you don't have members posting anymore is because we no longer discuss Nascar but criticize everything that is wrong with it. There was plenty of good racing today. And BTW...Jimmy and Chad have not cheated their way into any champtionship...but earned it. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to see Mark or Jeff win the championship this year, but hey...JJ just flat out drove them. I'm really tired of ppl thinking that JJ doesn't deserve his wins or his championships. If ya'll hate what Nascar is doing then why are you still watching it? Best of luck to all of you, but I just can't stomach all of this whining that is done on here anymore.

Amen to both of you. I also catch myself falling asleep and then waking up to see the ending. They know with the economy they are losing fans and they need to do something. I agree the Chase is a real big JOKE.

That's not such a bad idea NiteWalk. I can't tell you the number of races this year that I started watching but then got tired (because they were not exciting races) and took a nap, mostly waking up in time to see the last 50 laps or so. I can't tell you how many, but it was quite a few.

I don't think that racism was a factor in the deal with Montoya and Stewart, but I do think there was a bit of bias toward the past champion and against the driver who was born in another country. The same kind of bias toward a top NASCAR driver that gave Jimmie Johnson at least a couple of underserved championships. I used to say well, even if I don't like him, the guy who won the championship is the guy who earned it. But I don't feel that way anymore. A few years ago Jeff Gordon was more than 300 points ahead of everyone else....but he started the Chase in second place because even though he had been consistantly very good that year, he had not won as many races as Jimmie Johnson had. When NASCAR started giving every championship to a team that cheats, they lost whatever credibility they might have had in the past.

At any rate, I probably will watch at least the first few races next year to see if they're any better than this year's races before I make any decision about whether or not to just do something else with my Sundays that's more userul and/or enjoyable. If NASCAR did what you're suggesting, or at least shortened most of the races a bit, that would go a heck of a lot farther toward making the races more exciting than the joke they call "The Chase" has.

There was much rejoicing!

I am a 42 fan and I really don't think racism is a factor. In the first incident Tony slide in front of Juan who gave him a shot (that's part of racing). Tony's retaliation was obvious and both drivers were warned. (Tony should have been penalized, I'm also a Tony fan). Juans retaliation was blatant and he deserved the penalty. I agree that there is inconsistency and the races (except short tracks) are boring. There are a whole lot less feuds these years than there used to be and NAScrap should "let them play" a little more. We saw a couple of continuing 'attitudes' this year but they were afraid to go to far or suffer from the hand of France/Helton.
Since we can always make comments and wishes I would like to see all races shortened to 250 miles or less. That would provide more of a shootout mindset.

I have no explanation at all. Would not even try. I agree with just about everything you have said. Guess lots of us have been thinking it but just didnt want to say it. So thanks for saying it for us. I also think this is why we dont have many team members posting much anymore. Hope next season it will be different.

I will try to keep up the daily chat and we can just use it for a regular chat about what we are doing for that day till the season starts again next year at Daytona.

They've mostly been boring races this year. When drivers can hang back and not race all day, and then win the race at the end of it, well that's just not racing and I've been seriously considering whether or not I'm even going to watch very many of the races next year. I'm just really that disgusted right now.

Why in the heck does NASCAR even bother having rules anymore? They don't enforce them with any regularity, they just let things go and let them go and then suddenly jump out and penalize one driver for something that makes you think "well what about all of those other people who did the same thing? Why aren't you penalizing them??" So this year they've handed yet another trophy to one of the dirtiest teams NASCAR has seen in a really long time. Hooray for NASCAR.

And what the heck were the officials looking at while Montoya and Stewart were trying to run each other off of the road?? It's possible that Montoya's first bump into Stewart's rear was an accident. Unlikely, but possible. But Stewart's retaliation was absolutely blatant....and just like Jimmie Johnson, he doesn't get a penalty because of who he is. When Montoya came back out of the garage and slammed into Stewart's rear end again it was no more blatant than Stewart's payback, but Montoya gets penalized two laps while Stewart gets nothing at all.

As I'm pretty sure you've all guessed by now, I'm pretty damn pissed off at NASCAR right now. My husband, who is from the same South American country as Juan Montoya and has about the same strength to his accent as does Montoya, said that he feels that there was racism going on in all of that. I don't know if I'd go that far with it, but there was most certainly some bias shown against the driver who wasn't born in this country.

If anyone can come up with an innocent explanation for all of this, I'd really like to hear it.

There was much rejoicing!

How many are watching the race. I was gone doing errands this morning. Three of my Great grandchildren were dedicated at church today and I just had to be there for that. Then went shopping at walmart to get my walking in. Now I have the race on and headed to sit and watch it. I would love to see Mark or someone else win today. We know who won the championship. The sad thing is that is going to over shadow the winner of todays race.
