Deborah Renshaw and Erin Crocker tried but Deborah had that terrible wreck with Eric Martin in ARCA and of course we know what happened with Erin Crocker. Lelani Munter is a bit too political. There are a number of other women drivers starting to make their way through the ranks but as you say they need to be able to balance the long season with the family, if that's part of thier ambition.

But Alli Owens in ARCA seems to be a possibility right now. She doesn't have the best equipment but she is able to make the most of what she gets and seems to have a good temperament. If someone could get her in a Venterini car, I think that she could take off in a wonderful way.

I got to meet Shawna when she raced here in Kansas... she had a lot of potential!

I'm lookin' forward to seeing someone like her again in Nascar!

We had at least one female driver for a while...Shawna Robinson, I think. But she quit racing, or at least quit racing in the upper ranks, when she started having babies. I'd love to see some female drivers but I think it's unlikely that we'll see many because of the fact that they all have a much more important job to do than driving once they've got kids. Now if we could find a few good ones who didn't want to be moms....

I rather see Milka Dumo come in since she at least has had some road course time with 24 of Daytona. She has been on teams with Juan Pablo Montoya and Robby Gordon. Sarah Fisher would also be an interesting choice although she isn't as much of a sensationalist as Patrick is and would be a fairly good "workhorse" driver.

I don't think Danica is going to come over to NASCAR. She's a star in the Indy series, but she'd be starting at the bottom of the pile in NASCAR. I don't think that her ego is going to be willing to accept that, so I think that she'll end up staying where she is. Also, I think that having seen that most of the drivers who go from Indy cars to NASCAR don't do terribly well for at least the first few years seems to deter most drivers who contemplate making the change. But it could be interesting to see....

And don't forget to throw in the debate about Danica Patrick... will she stay in Indy or will she come over to Nascar? She really stirred up some stuff when she visited Tony's shop this week!

I didn't get any Spark emails at all for a couple of months, so please excuse me if I'm bringing up something that's already been discussed to death. I'm certainly not trying to rehash things that the group has already been discussing in my absence.

As far as Kasey goes, I think he'd be smart to stay where he is, but who knows what any of the drivers will do if enough money is waved in front of their faces? I'm interested to see where Elliott Sadler and Jamie Mac end up driving next year. I really do think that the speculation of Silly Season is a lot of fun and I've been enjoying it immensely.

There was much rejoicing!

The Mayfield thang isn't helping anyone and I'm really too sad about the mess to even talk about it anymore.

Does anyone think that Kasey Kahne may leave Petty if offered big buckies?

I really do think that silly season is a lot of fun. The only bad part about it this year was the announcement that Jeremy Mayfield had tested postive for methamphetamine. This group discussed that whole situation at one time so I'm sure that we've all been paying attention to that story. I just think that the whole thing is really, really sad. (And that it certainly fits the "silly" thing, though obviously not the spirit of what we mean when we say "silly season.")

And....I think that we're all going to have a lot of fun watching how things fall out. Who ends up driving for Tony, where Shrub ends up, all of that. It's always a lot of fun to watch every year. emoticon emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

If Kyle Busch can move on, everyone better watch out. Wonder where he will wind up or if he will re-sign where he is. Makes you wonder, don't it???

VALIFT: I know what you're talking about... my hospital is EXACTLY the same,, and I just laugh it off!

Back to Nascar... speaking of "everybody wanting to drive for Tony", I hope Brad ends up in a 3rd car for him. That would keep the Hendricks connection there!

According to the master of disaster, Jayski, these are the drivers who contracts run out in 2010.

Kasey Kahne
Elliott Sadler
David Ragan
Jamie Mac
David Reutimann
Kyle Busch

Whoa did Jayski say Kyle Busch?! Yes, Jayski says Kyle Busch! Free for all! emoticon

Apparently RCR nipped this in the bud. Kevin is going to remain in his contract until 2011.

Rumor was that Kevin wanted to join Tony's team in the third car.

Everybody wants to work for Tony! emoticon

I love silly season. It's even better than sitting around at work and listening to people saying things like "you know, I heard that the lab is being bought by so-and-so" or "I've heard that somebody's going to buy the hospital." I love to sit back and laugh while people make themselves crazy over this kind of thing coz there ain't a doggone thing I can do to change either the people or whatever they're speculating about. I just figure I'll see what I see when I see it. (But it sure can be fun.....) emoticon

Silly season is right. Truex is going to be driving for Michael Waltrip Racing next year and Mikey is going to be only running a short schedule.

Wonder who is going to be changing owners next???

Rumors are flying that Kevin Harvick has asked Richard Childress for an early release. Kev's been with Richard Childress since 2000/2001 and while he has been in the Chase, Kev's hasn't earned a Cup.
