I am sorry that I have not been on the boards. I got a little down and needed to take time for myself. Also the landlord wanted me to rearrange the apartment and get the uncompleted projects done. I am not going to read all the back posts, just starting as if a new person on SPARKS.

That is funny and so true!!!! LOL... I forgot to say on the other thread that I am so proud of all our favorites for doing so well at Dover. Feel bad for Jeff, but that caution really nailed the coffin on his day putting him two laps down. I also think the soreness from the wreck on Friday really played a big part on his driving, though he did really well considering the pain he was probably experiencing. Knowing how bad the sciatic pain can be when in a car on a long trip....I don't know how he is driving at all...strong man is all I can say, since we know he can't be taking pain meds.

Robby Gordan gets my vote also. His comment about how he can't wait until someone else drives the 55 was just ignorant. Michael lost control of the car...it wasn't on purpose that he bumped Robby.

NITEWALK6, even I find that gross and I love Jeff!To me that borders on insane...of course I feel that way about any tatoo. If I had gotten one when I was younger, I can only imagine what it would look like on this stretched out skin of mine now...LOL.

And Deb...Elvis on the toilet???? How sick is that? I agree your brother gets the Bonehead Award outside of Nascar and we can give that other woman the Nascar one...LOL.

Memaw...that sounds like something I would have done too at your daughter's age...thank goodness tattoo's were not popular back then...LOL

We told our oldest daughter she couldn't get a tattoo until she was out of college and on her own. So what does she do? She got a tattoo the first semester she was away at college. We didn't find out about it until a couple of years later when I was going through some pictures. She'd had her friend take pictures of her getting the tattoo!

I am still laughing about the fact she had no teeth but had that huge tattoo. Oh my. I guess life would be boring if we all had the same (sane) priorities. :) I just found out my little brother just got (ANOTHER, grrrr) tattoo - this one on his thigh. You'll never guess what it is, so I'll spill it - Elvis. Elvis on the toilet. Elvis DEAD on the toilet, which I believe the rumor goes that's how they found him. I hereby nominate my brother with the non-Nascar bonehead move of the week/month. Sheesh.

I'm pretty sure it would be the tattoo parlor with the copyright violation if they sold her the design, or even if it was one she brought in. The one who profits from unauthorized use of any copyrighted material is in the wrong.

It's still all kinds of wrong to put that kind of tattoo anywhere on a body. The day will come when Jeff is no longer with Hendrick.

She made a Bonehead Move.

Gawd I surely hope you were kidding! I forgot to tell you all about the mid 50's woman in front of me @Bristol. She was wearing a #24 bikini top (no chest) so she could show off that her entire back was one continuous tattoo of Jeff, Dupont and Hendrick. It was gross!!! She was missing a few teeth but was able to get all those tats.
What will she do if he ever changes teams. I wondered if she was violating any copyrights.

Sam still has his ride? I thought after a couple of dismal showings he would be out already. He and Dinger and some of them need to go back to truck or NNS to get some more fender rubbing 'sperience as DW says.

I think the bonehead move was JJ sliding through his pit and maybe Jeff for missing pit road all together causing a tire to blow out!

In reading Track Smack today, I was satisfied with Kenseth's comment that indeed blocking is a part of the sport, but as the blocker, you also have to take into consideration what the possible consequences of those actions could be. I think he phrased it "you could get the chrome horn". :) I also read in an opinion article Shrub's frustrations going into the race, too, because a) he tried to bump someone out of the way in the truck race - didn't work, and b) he tried to bump Stewart out of the way in the NW race - didn't work. I guess what I'm trying to say is - whether it's intentional or not, this stuff happens all the time. God knows as a Junior fan I've been disappointed he's been caught up in someone else's carelessness - including intentional carelessness - many times. As for the pressure on him - yeah, I'm sure it's there. I don't think it's warranted or necessary. He HAS won several races, after all. And Shrub - good Lord, people had him pegged for the championship from race one last year; look what happened to him, but no one questions his talent.

Eh, they're all boneheads at one point or another. I wonder who will be the biggest one THIS weekend?! :) Can't wait to find out! ha (I hope it's not my guy!)

Unfortunately Dale Sr. lost his life, because he was blocking at Daytona. So both drivers should know what can happen.

OK you guys knew I wouldn't/couldn't stay quiet on this one (I tried.... really).
NAScrap says it was a 'racing incident' and ruled it was NOT intentional which was not the ruling on Sat in the NW race.
DW seems to be the only person in the press that defended Jr (no surprise). Most others have blamed Jr. Yes they were racing for position but there is no rule that says if someone is faster you must move over. Most drivers would block.
That said, Jr had one of the greatest Daytona teachers ever and I truly believe that if the situation were reversed we would have the same outcome. Jr was frustrated (mostly with himself) and needlessly shot off his mouth afterward.
Some have said this was a payback, I don't think at 180mph any driver plans something like that.
Big E would have pulled the same move and did countless times to move cars out of his way. (I am a TS fan and he learned it too).
This practice will never stop and perhaps it adds some excitement to an otherwise boring race.
Jr is under pressure to perform since everyone was disappointed with last year's performance when most expected a top 5 finish if not a championship. I thought last year was his year. Maybe in 2009 he will "git er dun"

What I guess some are saying about Jr. is he has great equipment, this is his second year with the team so they need to see results this year. So he is under a lot of pressure. My guess if someone else had bumped Vickers you would have a different opinion. They were racing for position.

Does anyone know if they were talked to after the race?

yeah Vickers and JR made bonehead moves. It is a shame that other drivers suffered for it. But I think Vickers shouldn't have blocked Jr anyway, JR coudn't have passed below the line anyway. I'm a Tony and Mikey fan, so I am not really trying to defend JR, but come on you have to give the guy room to get back on track. I think JR was faster car then Vickers and that is the only reason Jr tapped him in the but. It wasn't done aggressively. emoticon

Your right whined. I'm hoping all the tracks will give us a break this year. In July they are giving a lot of tickets away. When I get the details I'll put them on this site. Have a great day.

Fernwood...would that be "whined", "wined", or both...LOL. The report on Fox said the last tickets were not sold until the night before the race. They must have been really offering some sweet deals down there.

I spoke with a friend here yesterday who has friends in California. The Calif track is giving out free VIP passes to those who live within so many blocks or miles from the track! Some tracks I have checked into, just to see what they were really doing with tickets this year are offering no deals...at least not online. It is quickly becoming a hobby to keep everyone informed of deals at their home tracks...LOL.

I was shocked to see so many people there. They kept saying with the economy there would be fewer people. I had a great time and got a wind burn while I was there. My husband wined all night because they called the race and kenseth won.

I nominate Nascar for the Bonehead of the Day award during the NW race...if they had not penalized Jason Leffler 5 laps, a lot of this controversy on Sunday would be mute.

As for The Bonehead award for the D500 I nominate both Jr and Vickers because both were at fault in that wreck.

So no one is going to nominate anyone for the Bonehead of the Race award for the Daytona 500? My nominee's name starts with a "J" and ends with and "R" ;-P

HI all I'm back. Officially for me the bonehead move is Nascar for allowing people like the rookies in the shootout and not seasoned drivers like Ryan Newman. emoticon Where there any DEI cars in it, I missed them if there was,

I don't know that I would call R Gordon anymore bonehead than I would anyone else in that race. I think inexperience and no testing were major contributing factors to the wreckfest.
The Biff wrecked 3 times (one on a tap from J Gordon), J Gordon missed 4 wrecks (all at once).
The Ragan, R Gordon wreck occured with Ragan 'running right behind Johnson appeared to lift' In a statement from the care center made by David Ragan "It's just a typical deal here at Daytona and Talladega. When someone gets checked up usually two or three rows back someone doesn't see it."

"I expected it to be wild [but] man I hope the 500's not like this, if there are cautions late in the race. Everybody comes here to win. A 500-mile race, we have to use our heads more than that. I thought it was a great, fun, exciting race with a lot of action. Unfortunately, the cars were dancing around a lot and I thought that had a lot to do with the wrecks." Jeff Gordon
"It's just crazy out there when you've got a green-white-checkered at a plate race. It's gonna be four-wide and you know there's gonna be a wreck. You just hope you're not in it." Matt Kenseth

Don't miss a lap of the 500 (or duel day for that matter)

In my opinion, it's a bonehead decision to let the rules for something NON-POINT like the shootout allow rookies to compete with the guys who have earned these opportunities...I like Joey and Scott, but they were way over their heads.

Don't mean to gloat or anything, but I did predict Robbie Gordon would make the first bonehead move. He's almost always good for one each race. I don't know if it's because he's not focused enough on what's happening ahead of him or if he's just a bad driver.

I won't make the same prediction for the 500 because there will be more rookies in that race. They are just too inexperienced to get everything right the first time at Daytona.

I'm sure Joey will be okay, but you know it kills me that they always preface his name with "the future of Nascar". Hmmm - I think he still has a little way to prove himself. I'm sure he's a good racer, but I've seen some that are pretty good too. And nothing like pressure for that kid, sheesh.

Hmm - is Juan Pablo in this race? I think he is... I think he'll make the first bonehead move. :)

My bet will be Joey Lagano. Yesterday during ther first practice Jeff Burton was bump drafting Joey and he swerved real big and nearly wrecked like he was scared to death. I think Joey is going to be in over his head for the Shootout.

My own bonehead moment -- I forgot there was a race this weekend. I was all geared up for next weekend. One of my friends has scheduled me for a dinner date tonight. Might just have to suggest some TV with dinner. Thanks for the thread which made me check the schedule.

Not a bonehead move but wanted everyone to know...

Go to www.dennyhamlin.com and select the race at which you would like Denny's 4 seats (I think these are clubhouse seats).
You select the race you'd like to attend and write a short story why you should get the tickets. He's giving away tickets to every race.

Since racing is starting again I'm sure there will be a few bonehead moves on and off the track. Come and rant about the drivers, crew chiefs, Nascar officials, whoever.

This week I believe goes to someone who is not in Nascar but gave me the idea for this thread:
