Maybe you could make your own buttermilk -- just enough as you need it and then there would not be any left over. Just put a bit of lemon juice (or vinegar) into the regular milk and it becomes "buttermilk"

When I was small, my mother did this to make "sour milk" when we needed more than we had on hand. (of course there was no such thing as "buttermilk" in that little town back in the 50's and 60's) so if you had milk that had gone sour, you used that, or if you didn't, then you made some....

That cold cucumber and avacado soup looks yummy, I wonder how it would turn out with yogurt instead of buttermilk. If I got buttermilk, then the question would become... what do I do with the rest of the buttermilk? LOL

I opened an email from a couple of days ago and guess what I found..... A slide show on different ways to use avacado. Do you like smoothies? They mention a strawberry and avacado smoothie, along with a few other ideas. Hope this might help you if you are interested....

Good question, what to do with the rest of the avacado???? And you can't leave them exposed to the air or they turn a nasty brown....

My sister and her husband will made that dip thing (qwackamole) out of them. I don't like avacado at all so won't eat them as a fruit, in a salad, or as a dip OR as an oil.

I have never tried walnut oil. Isn't it on the bitter side? Do you use it for cooking or just for dressing (a salad?)

I use mostly olive oil, for my salad dressings and to wake up spices to add to various dishes.

I've also tried walnut oil, which has a nice taste and I just bought some avacodo oil, hoping I can get that lovely taste without opening an avacado, who can eat just a 1/4 of one?! and what do you do with the rest? LOL

Do you use oils in your cooking? What kinds?

I try not to use anything from a GMO source, (but as most do not have required labeling,.....) and I hate the taste of olives including olive oils..... So I use mostly grape seed oil when I need an oil.....

Other times, I will spray coat the pan, then after getting the sear, I use water as needed to prevent burning.... It all depends on what I am cooking....
