When I was living in the "Lower Mainland" area and my doc quit private practice to work in one of the Hospital ER's, I phoned lots of doctors and told them I was diabetic and that I needed a Primary Care Physician and was he accepting new patients? I told the receptionist how important it was to me to find a doc who would look after my entire health. Several of them said no, they were not accepting new patients, but the very next day one called me back. She said she had discussed me with the doc and he had agreed to accept me as a patient because he knew how important continuity of care is for diabetics.

There are also some web sites that list doctors who are accepting new patients. I never had to look for one out in BC so I can't give you any specific information on them, but you could maybe try googleing it first. Then when you have a list of names, start phoning and see if that gets you any results. If this guy is just looking at A1C, he could be missing some information vital to your ongoing health....

I hope you find someone soon ..... or come back to Alberta?, lol

Donna, congrats on staying strong on the chocolate...... I can hold out for a day or two but if there is anything around longer than that, I am a goner.....

Take care everyone......

Linda, emoticon on the lower A1C, that's proof are you are trying to take care of yourself. Hope you can figure out something to help with the Edema, can the Dr suggest anything?

Aferrari, hope you can find a good, caring dr, that is so important is winning this battle with diabetes.

Yesterday, although I did track, I ended up binging a bit after work. I think I didn't eat enough during the day so by the time I got off work I was about ready to starve or so I thought. But at least I didn't turn to junk food. Even though my coworker bought me a PB Carmel Chocolate Egg for afternoon snack, but I politely told her thank you but I couldn't have it. Score for not caving in to chocolate as she knows how much I love Chocolate candy eggs. LOL
For supper I season salmon filets with this dill seasoning pack a friend gave me, grilled them & served them over angel hair pasta (yes I measured the correct amount before cooking so no temptation for 2nds) & served with a garden salad. Very tasty & a simple meal after work.
This morning feeling a bit better, I did sleep from 10-3, so that's better than my typical 4 hours of sleep. BS is steadily dropping as is the weight. So far I'm down 2.#s this month. emoticon

Have a great day ladies

I have to find a doctor here. The one I have filled out my form for my 3 month stuff and all he wants is the A1C - nothing else...I just feel stunned

Donna.
So sorry to hear you hare having med problems. Hope the new ones continue to work for you.

I went to the lab Tues before Christmas, Dr. apt on 30th. I was totally surprised because my A1C was actually down from 8.6 to 6.2 since July. I have never had it that low in almost 30 years as a diabetic. I was so pleased with myself. (lucky that I went to the lab before Christmas and not after, lol)

My main problem is still my edema. My feet get so swollen even if I lay down with them elevated...... And it has been so cold here that I have not been able to think about going out for walks.... But the days are already starting to get longer, so Spring is coming. As my BIL said today, in 5 months we'll be complaining about the heat, lol

All the best to you. Take care....

Having some issues as well, mine are diabetes attributed, A1C at 9.1. Been trying new meds to see if I can take them, the first one gave me an allergic reaction, so we will see how the latest medication works, so far so good after 3-4 days.
Hope you are able to get your computer fixed & get to feeling better yourself.

I have been having some more problems - this time both medical and computer, so have not been able to get on site much lately. I do hope I can get my BIL to take my computer in to be checked sometime in the next month. Winter is a really bad (as in busy) time for him so I am not sure when he will be able to do it.....

How is everyone doing? I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season, and wish all the best for everyone for 2015.
