This Beck business is new to me, how could I have missed knowing about this before? Excited!

1. Self-planned food within SP recommended ranges.
2. Eat Clean Diet

For both/either I will eat every 3-4 hours and am also planning in an option for small/controlled amounts of sweets after dinner every day.

All or nothing on the sweets has been a problem for me forever, this way I'm making it a reasonable part of a healthy lifestyle.

Still using the same 2 diets. I am now in week 9 of my food plan and I am comfortable with what I am eating. Have not yet found a need to use the back up diet.

I've been going back to a combination of diets or eating plans. Spark of course for tracking, but along with Spark the South Beach Diet principles along with the Sonoma Diet.

Beck suggests the second diet as a back-up, but you can also combine approaches to make a diet that works for you. That is what I do.

Hi Karen Dr. Colbert suggested using organic but it is costly...I will buy organic when it is on sale. I hope to get my garden started this summer. So some of my veggies will be organic that way. emoticon . I am looking forward to getting the book. God is my help and I know he is able. Just sometimes he allows things/or materials to give us a helping hand too here in earth.

Savedbygrace, Funny you should mention Don Colbert, I am on my way to the library to pick up his book 7 Pillars to Health, an I'm interested in his latest book also.
God is the only diet that will work for me.

Beck asked to pick 2 diets, one you will follow and the other as a kind of back up.

3 John 2 Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.

Since I don't have Beck diet solution I am curious as to why I need 2 diets? What I am doing:
1. Spark Nutrition tracker
2. Daily Dozen by Denise Austin
I took her book shopping using the shopping list at the back and bought food I never usually get. I really enjoyed fresh pineapple, pears, mangoes, fresh aspargus...

Here some truth I have tried best life diet..too restrictive, 3 hour diet not restrictive enough but I like the idea of 6 meals a day, abs diet too weird but I picked some awesome abs exercises from it. Body for life restrictive with exercise emphasis--there too high for me I have to do things at a slower pace.

I recently saw on a gospel channel you can do this diet by Don Colbert I am interested it is more than a diet by life style and that does work I keep search until I'll find something that works for me.

1. Diabetic exchanges/carb counting along with calorie cycling.

2. You can do this diet. I hope to buy it before the snow starts.

I have picked up ideas and other info from the other books mentioned and I am not downing them. They just did have all I needed. But if it is working for you Then work it baby!!! emoticon

1 - Sparkpeople nutrition trackers between 1400 and 1600 calories.

2- Weight Watchers diet plan, but not counting points using the calorie tracker

Plan 1--Sparkpeople nutrition trackers, staying between 1350 and 1700 calories.

Plan 2--Portion control. Cutting entrees in half at restaurants, using measuring cups & scale to get a handle on portion sizes.

I have found the nutrition trackers to be really helpful. It helps me aim for a good amount of protein, and I also track fiber, so that makes me get legumes, whole grains, and vegetables. If I stop losing weight at my current calorie range, I just change up the range.

I've used The Best Life plan for years now, and when I work the plan, it works!

I don't eliminate any food items completely, I just control my portions, avoiding alcohol, foods high in sugar, and saturated fat. There are certain trigger foods that I do eliminate from my pantry and fridge.

Diet 1 - Count calories while using "food exchanges"

Diet 2 - Low Carb (this is good as diet #2 because I can only do it for a few days at a time so it will be good when I need a change)

My diets are:
The Sonoma Diet which is more of a portion plan and moderate carb plan. I'm feeling the need to get in control of my portions and limit some of the carbs and cut out the junk food and sugar.
My backup is to count the calories on Spark.

I also use elements of other food plans such as The Flat Belly Diet which focuses on including good fats and other foods for good health.

My first choice will be the diet my trainer gave me (which is basically low fat, low sugar diet). And my second choice the SparkPeople Diet.
I like the low fat low sugar diet, because there are no difficult restrictions, it's all about healthy food choices!

My first choice is Weight Watcher's Momentum, and my second choice is listening to my hunger signals and journaling about what I eat--maybe using a weekly chart (I have done that before). I chose WWM because I have used the point system in the past; moreover, I like the online planner and exercise planner. I think it is easy to use their weight systems. I have been using my second choice and it works, especially if I write down everything I eat.

I've read a TON of diet books/plans and have never really implemented any of them. I think the Abs Diet probably seems to be the best fit. Maybe in combination with the No S Diet. I think I'll have the Prevention 3-2-1 Diet as Plan B.

Plan A Utilize the Spark People calorie and nutrition tracker

Plan B Weight Watchers worked in the past for a while until I lost my way.

I just don't want to spend the money right now and I've found SP to be a great life plan if I follow it and stick with it....Dr Beck is going to teach me how!

I'm going through the book a second time and focusing in one chapter a day, so it's great there's a place to post!

Today's topic feels unimportant because I already have a diet, and a backup. But I guess it's a good reminder that I have a current plan as well as a plan I can fall back on if this doesn't work for me.

My current plan is the one my trainer designed for me:
2 days/week strength training w/trainer
4 days/week cardio on my own
1500 calories per day or less
Less than 40g fat per day
Try to reach 125g protein per day
Planks exercises every night

My backup plan is the Weight Watchers points system. I've done this plan before and I like it, and I know it works if I stick to my points.

Good luck everyone!

Karen - I like the Food Mover too.

However, I tend to use the exchanges for the foods that were not intended. I swap out fruits for breads, etc. If I want a big plate of spaghetti - I'll use a few of my fruit exchanges for more pasta. I suppose a calorie is a calorie - but, I need to eat fruit! :) If you know what I mean.

Sometimes when I get tired of counting calories, I take a 'vacation' from it and use the exchange program.

Hi folks - my diet plans are:

1. Calorie Counting and keeping track of Calories, Fats, Carbs, & Protein. (using SP guidelines)I will pay special attention to the types and amounts of carbs that I eat - as I am borderline diabetic.

2. The diabetic exchange food plan.

I've done both & like both. I actually like the exchange food plan as it's easier. But, the calorie counting keeps me more honest.

I can't lose 100 pounds....but, maybe I can lose five pounds twenty times.

I'm torn about my choices exactly. I'm wheat (but not gluten) intolerant or my first choice would be the eat clean diet, I think.

I'm thinking about the Paleo diet, though I would need to eat cheese. It is just a must.

My other choice might be Eat Stop Eat or the local diet kitchen where I pick up meals. Let's see that give me choices

1) Eat Clean
2) Paleo
3) Eat Stop Eat
4) My delivery

I'm a diet expert...not many that I havent tried.

My first diet choice is Eating clean. I like the concepts of eating whole foods frequently. I know that I will never eat 100% clean, but would really like to try to head in that direction.

My second choice is the Sparkdiet. I think that I need to add in portion control and monitoring my calories to keep my eating in check.

I choose the Atkins diet first because it has worked so well for me before and I enjoy the diet and find it the easiest for me to stick with the longest.

Second I choose just counting calories and carbs and eating as clean as possible.

Primary: Calorie counting. I'm going to have my RMR tested (making the appointment tomorrow) and use that to guide my daily calorie intake and exercise.
I will have at least 1400 calories/day and then modify exercise so that there's a calorie deficit so that I lose 1.5 pounds/week. I think that this gives me enough freedom that I can eat more but balance it against increased activity.

The Sonoma Diet with elements of other diets. Including Weight Watchers and South Beach Phase 2 and Jenny Craig.

I am doing:
Tracking my food on Sparkpeople.
Using the quick track for vegetables and fruits. I'm going to use the Weight Watchers idea of counting some low point/calorie fruits and vegetables as zero point...in my case zero calorie. Also, going to drink V8 juice to up my vegetable consumption. Going to watch the fiber and calcium numbers on my Spark tracker.

Will be trying to vary my calories with the calorie cycling approach I've done in the past. Low calorie days interspersed with higher calorie days.

South beach, stage 2 (which includes fruit and complex carbs in moderation.)
Anti-inflammatory diet/eating clean (for the most part)which is basically staying away from processed foods, and eating more salmon.

i'm really over analyzing this. i want a jump-start, so i picked Atkins as my first choice. 2nd, would be a combo of Spark, Low Carb and the Diet Cure (which is low carb and utilizes amino acid supplements).

Hi!

I'm re-doing "day" 2, thinking of it as a step rather than a 24 hour day.

My plan #1 is the Rosedale diet, which I have been on since June 23.

Plan #2 "Eating Clean"

Plan #3 - Weight Watchers.

Plan 1 - Calorie counting - Calories always count.

Plan 2 - Insulin Resistance Diet - Basically, your grams of Protein should equal at least half of your grams of Carbs, every time you eat.

I started counting calories and so far have lost 2 lbs, thanks to Beck I seem to be sticking with it.

The 2 food plans I could stick with for the long haul
1) Fat Smash Diet
2) Abs Diet

I see many have done WW, I never could, I was always to cheap to spend my points.
I have tons of rollover points, anybody want them?
