I'm always posting from my phone and people's signatures don't show up in mobile version, so I didn't see your McDougall forum food log, LOL. I have one of his books, The Starch Solution.

Well, I wouldn't major on the minors then. emoticon You've got a good plan, and like it was mentioned, unless you're Dr says something, just continue on with what you're doing.

I do follow Dr. McDougall's guidelines, and I do take a B12 supplement. There's plenty of fat in whole grains and other plant foods. I don't worry about getting enough fat.

Since you're only eating whole grains, veggies, fruit, and water, that's a vegan diet. Even Dr McDougall, a vegan diet Dr, says vegans need to supplement with vitamin B12. Those other vitamins are problems for vegans and are usually supplemented with vitamins on a vegan diet especially if you're already eating lots of super foods.

I do take a super B vitamin supplement for my diabetes.

Have you looked at any diet books that center around your food list? That may help give you ideas. Hope we were helpful.

I don't think we need to calculate minerals, unless doctor tells us to fight a specific disease.
I believe in not wasting calorie budget on empty carbs (sugar and flour) - instead spend all calories on real natural food rich in minerals and vitamins:
fruit, vegetables (lots of vitamin C),
healthy fats (my choices: nuts, seeds, olive oil and butter)
complex carbs (whole grains, legumes)
protein (again legumes, eggs, diary, and sometimes meat)

I'm on a very strict diet for my heart and blood sugar, and to be honest, since I'm only allowed a limited list of foods, it makes it really easy for me. (Whole starches, veggies, fruits, and water. That's it.)

Honestly, for me, I just eat a variety of foods and food groups and not obsess about all that. I think getting so fixated on food starts too get unhealthy. Cravings tend to be more head hunger. I'm probably not very helpful.

I have been tracking my food with the spark tracker. I find that I am not eating as healthy as I thought. I am missing several vitamins and minerals. Maybe this is where the cravings start.Any suggested reading on where to best get these vitamins. I try to eat some of the so called supper foods. I need more calcium D A C potassium. how can you lose weight and eat all you need?
And thank you for your comments and helps. You really are great :)
