Hi Maisie and Welcome! You could also try the PCRM website. They have a 21 day Vegan Challenge 4 times a year with menus and recipes. You can get recipes and advice from their archives. The one I started with was with food from India - heavy on the curries. The nice thing about it is that they explain everything so well.

Welcome! I have been back and forth on becoming veg/vegan and even though I KNOW this is what I need to do it's been hard to do living with a carnivore DH! Well he is on cholesterol meds and has decided he needs to at least try to do this with me,YEAH! So I am off this weekend and cooking up some great vegan meals! Diane

That's the great thing about vegan eating. The variety of wonderful ethnic foods which replace the ubiquitous meat potato and vegetables on your plate. I love curry too. A good book to read on health issues is: How to Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease by Caldwell B. Esselstyn jr. M.D.

Hi everyone, I'm Maisie I'm new to being vegan, my best friend has been vegan her whole life, and is the one that introduced me to vegan living. My family has a whole list of hearth issues from high blood presser, cancer, and diabetes. A few months back I was talking to my friend about these issues and my worries of getting them, she gave me a list of videos to watch like Forks over knifes, Vegucated, Earthlings (warning very graphic), and the youtube video Best Speech You Will Ever Hear - Gary Yourofsky. Lets just say because of these movies I was shocked. I have never been a big meat eater and had already replaced my milk with almond milk just because I love almonds, but after watching all this there was no going back to me.I just don't have the heart to be apart of that. I have stopped eating everything but sugar, I still have issues with it but have cut down a lot from it.
My favorite food since going vegan is curry ( all curry) I never gave it a try before, and now I eat it at least 2-3 times a week.
