Hey, DADISANGEL--

If you experience greatest success with a low-carb diet, I'd recommend getting most of your protein from any (organic, if possible) soy products you can--like shelled edamame, tempeh and tofu--and less of your protein from black beans, refried beans, etc. Soy has the highest amount of protein for the calories/carbohydrates it provides. You'd be taking in a greater amount of carbohyrates by getting your protein from black beans, pinto beans, fava beans, etc.

Hope this helps! Feel free to respond on here or in a direct message if you have more questions :)

Eating well + having a good time need not be mutually exclusive.

Invest time doing research particular to your requirements. Tons of info on the net and some here. I would recommend giving up dairy and processed "food". If you do soy its best to buy organic. Commercial soy is a GMO product. emoticon

I am struggling with my weight and need to make changes. It is funny how your body changes as you get older, but at 61 I am finding low carbs is best.

I very rarely eat red meat. Eat mainly chicken, turkey and tofu. Want to eat less chicken and turkey, more tofu and refried beans, black beans, etc. I like to incorporate protein drinks.

Any suggestions or reading that would help? I know I need to make sure that I get the right nutrients when going towards being a vegetarian.
