Water kefir is an easy entry point to home probiotics. It's mesophilic (i.e. room temperature) so you don't need any incubation set up. And you just drink it, easy. With some other things, like miso for example, I'm often struggling to use them in the kinds of things I eat. That said, I've recently been trying pickling vegetables with miso and that's working out ok. I can eat pickled veg till the soy cows come home.

For probiotics I make my own fermented veggies and sauerkraut. They are so delicious and take only 4 days to make. You only eat about 1/8 cup a day with a meal or on a sandwich... my current fav combo is a veggie burger with barbeque sauce, lettuce and tomato, and a serving of homemade pink sauerkraut on top! (made with red cabbage) When you grow your own probiotics it is incredibly cheap too.... Miso soup is also probiotic so is Kimchee (vegan) of course..spicy and yummy as a side to just about everything... I made them in mason jars with an air lock on top so you don't have to worry about a big crock and skimming mold off the top or anything.

Let me know if you are interested in learning how to make any of this.... So much fun and so good for you too!!

Oh I forgot..... fermented diilled green beans... DILLY BEANS.... oh so good with pizza! Who would have thought? I make them with a lot of garlic and hot peppers so they replace the banana peppers for me... I eat them room temp. with the pizza.. you can never cook a pro biotic veggie.. it kills the critters..

Make your own! Here's my recipe. Feel free to use whatever 'milk' you like. The web is filled with ideas: recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detai

I use a couple of 25 watt lightbulbs on clip-on lights in my oven for incubating. There are all kinds of incubating techniques: a cooler with bottles of hot water, a thermos, a crock pot, sweaters wrapped around the yogurt jars and set by the radiator...

May I ask why you are searching for a vegan yogurt???? I hope it isn't for added protein. The best protein on the planet in the perfect amount comes from plants. We only need a maximum of 10% per day and that is if you are body building 6 hours per day....LOL

The protein myth is great for sales, that's all.

i started out as a vegetarian and transitioned to veganism. it was very easy for me. the only problem problem i have is finding a vegan yogurt i can live with. i've tried them all, soy, coconut milk, almond milk. the textures are awful.so with that being said i continue to eat Greek yogurt and goats milk yogurt.
any one out there have any suggestions for a good brand of vegan yogurt?
