Hello and welcome Bikki! I recently went veg as well, though I'm not sure if I'll ever go completely vegan, I can say I've seen the same results as you as far as mental clarity and energy goes when I stopped eating meat and limited my dairy consumption. It just does so much for you!

I recommend checking out Veggieboards...it's another site but they're awesome and have tons of great tips and recipes for beginners. Also "Going Vegetarian" and "Going Vegan" from Book Publishing Company (yeah, that's the actual name of the publisher) are amazing resources on veg and vegan nutrition.

Each day I am grateful for nights that turned into mornings, friends that turned into family, dreams that turned into reality and likes that turned into love.

I did the 21 day kickstart plan through PCRM in 2011. The plan has recipes and menus to follow. It was great for me. A few days before the 21 days started I started getting e-mails about what staples to have on hand and what to get rid of. I had transitioned to vegetarian prior to trying vegan so it wasn't as hard for me as it could have been. I used to have meat with every meal. I feel so much better now and have lost that feeling of... Yuk? in my stomach and intestines.

Welcome! I went vegan five years ago and it was the best decision I ever made. There are so may new and interesting things to try and some of it can be a little confusing at first. Don't hesitate to ask any questions.

First of all welcome ! This is the best decision you will ever make for your health . Becoming vegan can be a bit daunting but with the right guidance can be an exciting adventure . Arm yourself with a couple of good books , my favourite is " The China Study Cookbook" by Leanne Campbell and " Get Healthy Go Vegan " by Dr Neal Barnyard , also you can't go wrong with a visit to www.thehappyherrbivore.com or by reading any of Lindsey Nixon's books . Stuck for ideas ? Then the happy herbivore has meal plans available at a very moderate price weekly .
Good luck on your journey . Do not beat yourself up if you go off track occasionally , just get back on again , to err is human.

Congratulations Bikki for taking the first steps to regaining your health. I also found that I had better energy and mental clarity when I went vegan 3 years ago. Folks here are so helpful and friendly with any question you may have. Let us know how you are doing and if there is anything we can do to help you in this journey.

Hello Everyone! My name is Dolores but everyone calls me bikki. I took the seven day vegan challenge about three months ago and it was hard for the first three days but by the fourth day I started to feel more alert and my mood was just great. I felt healthy. I went back to a meat diet around the holidays and needless to say I feel horrible on it. I never realized how eating meat made you sluggish and just drained my energy. And not to be too gross but sweat smells bad when you eat meat. So I have decided to become a vegetarian. My aim is to eventually be wholly vegan but I want to work my way to the stage (I cant just go out and buy a whole new wardrobe and replace - almost- everything in my house overnight). I also bought the Spark Activity Tracker to help me lose unwanted body fat. I am at a place in my life where I have taken a step back and come to the conclusion that enough is enough. I am now an adult and should be responsible for my choices. I welcome any advice!
