The same :) I was first chair flute for all of high school, and played sax for marching band until my senior year. Then marched piccolo for college for 2 years at Bowling Green State University (where I was studying music performance but left school after the second year).

Welcome to the club. I'm also a former "band geek"...I played flute/piccolo for 8 years (5th-12th grade). What did you play?

Just call me La. Most everyone else does.

I guess I'm kind of a Neek (or would that be Gerd). I am a total Sci-Fi geek, WoW geek (although I haven't played in a couple years), and I was in band in high school (hence the nickname "band geek" when I walked down the halls some 20+ years ago....affectionately, of course). I'm also married to a geek and have two geek dogs named Roger and Sammi.

My nerd side is that I hold an undergraduate degree in Computer Information Systems, a MBA in Marketing (yes, Marketing), and I am a Business Systems Support Analyst for an amusement park company.

To prove my geek-status, here are just some of the things that I enjoy (or are mildly obsessed with):

X-Files - I think my username is a dead giveaway

Stargate - From the original movie through Stargate Universe I've been hooked

Supernatural - I blame my friends that I met at the Stargate conventions in Chicago :)

Doctor Who - New obsession. I am determined to own every available episode including the original ones that are WAY hokey! (oh, and I'm torn between David Tennant or Matt Smith as my favorite Doctor)

Game of Thrones - I am a late comer to this as I binge-watched all of the seasons before this last season on HBO GO

The Hobbit/LOTR - I wouldn't say that I am obsessed, but a fan

Other TV shows: BSG, Continuum, The Walking Dead (behind a season on that one), Under The Dome, Fringe, Big Bang Theory, Once Upon a Time, Eureka, Warehouse 13, Falling Skies, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and probably many others I can't think of right now.

Other movies: Star Trek (all of them), Star Wars (all of them), Harry Potter (Yes, I read the books too), Twilight (yep, I'm guilty), anything from Spielberg "the early years", and a TON more that I could list but that's just WAY too much for now.

World of Warcraft - Was an officer in a guild (even had my guild leader from Washington state come live with us one summer). I'm looking forward to the expansion and will probably play it for a bit.

Also, we own pretty much every gaming console out there, including a PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, two iMacs, two PCs and all the other "I" things out there (yep, Apple geek here).

Because of all of the geeky TV watching and video game playing, and the nerdy studying for my degrees, I no longer have the physique to even lift a lightsaber, let alone fight with one, so I am currently on a medical weight loss program through a local hospital and have lost 36 pounds so far since April. I am looking forward to this group as I feel we have a lot in common!

See you in the threads!

P.S. I guess I forgot to mention that I'm 42 (and we all know what that is, right??) If not, you should consult a certain book that geeks and nerds alike are familiar with. emoticon
