Reply SparkPeople, at least. Been on and off MFP for a while.

Hello fellow nerds/geeks/awesome people! I'm Layla, a work-at-home digital library and instructional designer, trainer, and general software geek. I'm a sci-fi/fantasy-er, Whovian, Star Wars geek, Trekkie, Stargater, real-life stargazer, linguaphile, gamer, booknerd, Marvel Girl, custom PC builder, collector of nerdy things like magic wands that control your TV, animal lover/advocate, columnist... uhh... oh, and aspiring fitness nerd.

I've been on a "journey" to get into shape for several years, but I always find myself losing interest partway and giving up. I'm about to join the new 6-week challenge on (starts Monday) as a Ranger (crossfit endurance/strength), where last time I tried I was an Adventurer (no real focus, lost track) and before that a Druid (yoga/meditation, which I do anyway). Why a Ranger? Well... I did a fun 5K at the beginning of this month and loved it, though I seriously only jogged about 25% and walked the rest. I'd like to do better.

p.s. - find me on NF as Nicca and on MFP as riversongoficeandfire.

What else? I'm a born-and-raised lacto-ovo veg, though my fiancÚ is a certified carnivore. I've never intentionally eaten meat although I'm sure it's been in some things I've had (at least broth or what have you). He wants that to change for the sake of my health, since the way we were raised was heavily carb-based. I'm not sure about the meat thing yet, but I do know I need a better diet.

I'm going to start C25K on Monday with the challenge, and looking for more ways to become more active since I literally sit on my arse for 9+ hours a day at work and then 4+ hours at night streaming series or playing MMOs. I do walk my pup a few times a day, but that's about 15 minutes of 2mph and not really burning anything more than this cup of coffee.

Would be glad for any new friends on here!
