Outing Myself

As I mentioned before, I have 43 years of experience with computers, electronics and software. And, believe me, it was love at first sight (site, and cite ;-)).

However, I am the only computer jock I have "met" in those 43 years that detests scifi. To illustrate, the only "scifi" vehicles I've ever enjoyed are "Galaxy Quest", and the "Back to the Future Series", all of which I take are spoofs of the genre.

It's not that I don't like tech culture, however.

My all time favorite books are:

* The Man Who Loved Only Numbers: The Story of Paul Erdos and the Search for Mathematical Truth, Paul Hoffman (1999) -- A bona fide page turner!
* Genius: The Life and Science of Richard Feynman, James Gleick (1993)
* Mathematical Tables from the Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, Charles Hodgman (1941) -- You won't get this if you grew up before the age of cheap electronic calculators. -- This is my Dad's copy that still has his handwritten name and address in it. :-|
* What Do You Care What Other People Think, Richard P. Feynman
* The Pleasure of Finding Things Out, Richard P. Feynman
* UNIX Time-Sharing System, The Bell System Technical Journal, 1978, Vol 57, No. 6, Part 2
* Etcetera

It's also NOT that I don't like fiction. I have read all the fiction of Robert B. Parker, all the books of John Grisham, all of Salinger's works, John Barth, Joseph Heller, etc., etc.

I just prefer to separate my spirituality from my fiction. I leave it to organized (or even disorganized) religion to co-mingle the two.

What's this got to do with nutrition, fitness and wellness? Nothing! But, now, you know what I really think about all the religious signatures, references and quotations at SP. I know why I'm here! Why is the rest of that stuff, here!!
