Mad props to anyone who's old enough to remember my subject line's source. I assure you, I most definitely am not. That doesn't stop me from owning it on VHS, however.

Hi. I'm a young nerdy professional... well, if you call being a substitute teacher professional. I love video games, roleplaying games, writing, and gadgetry. I also love science fiction of all kinds, movies and books. Particular favorite bits of sci-fi of mine: The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Doctor Who, and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I'm here on SparkPeople basically on a lark, doing fitness stuff. I'm not sure I understand why. I know it has something to do with my crazy obsession with achievement. (Salutatorian in high school, graduated Summa Cum Laude in college, Alpha Chi, and so forth). I'm crazy competitive and between quantifiable lifetime achievements right now. I graduated college in May, and am looking for a real teaching job. In the meantime, what do I do with my life?

There's also the fact that I'm way out of shape, and every time I fantasize about traveling with the Doctor my fantasy gets interrupted by my extermination. I'm so un-fit that it ruins my suspension of disbelief. This has to change.

There's also my irritation at the difficulty shopping when you're perfectly wedged between normal and plus sizes. I like the way my body looks, I just don't like trying to cram it into fabric cages that never fit right even when my ribs were sticking out.

Now that I've started I'm in it for the ability to wake up in the morning clear-headed, the bragging rights, and the one time of day when no one can complain about me feeding my netflix addiction.

So uh.. hi guys!
