Wow, a PhD in LIS! I admire you for that. Can I ask what your topic of study is?

Hi Lynn,

I'm doing my PhD in LIS in the Denver area. I'm doing mine through Emporia. I just finished my qualifying exams and am taking the summer off from classes, and am looking forward to the break. I've been doing mine since August of 2007, and probably have a year and a half to two years to go.

I had the same experience, I had lost 30 pounds and then ended up gaining that all back and another dozen more... emoticon

Hi! So glad to find a group that I can relate to (and possibly commiserate with). My undergrad was in History and I decided to go into Library and Information Science primarily to become an archivist. However, my career is now veering towards records management and special libraries, and I think I'll be very happy there. I'm getting my degree from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee but I'm doing it 100% online while I live and work in Denver, CO.

When I started working on my masters, all the hard work I had put into losing 40 pounds the year before went out the window--I gained it all back and then some! The stress and lack of free time made it so difficult to take the time to workout and plan meals. I'm 2 years in, and will have at least a year left before graduation. Yes, it's a slow pace, but I just can't handle more than one class at a time with a full-time job. I don't know how others do it! I need to find a way to balance life and grad school so it doesn't affect my health the way it has.
