Welcome Barbara!

You are further along in the process than me, but the best piece of dissertaion advice I have received to date is to accept that this doesn't have to be your life's work, you just have to get it done.

As for the food options, I travel to work with an embarassingly large stack of gladware.

Kashi cereal + light yogurt + berries keeps me full for a really long time.

Veggies + fat free pretzels + hummus is my "I slept too late to pack my lunch" lunch

And to Frankly's suggestion - I always keep instant oatmeal packets in my desk drawer as a back up plan.

Good luck with the lit review! Computers and education sounds like a fascinating area of study.

My wife loves oatmeal or smoothies for breakfast, both are quick and nutritional. I prefer cereal with blueberries and soy milk, just as quick and less work.

Could have risen to the clouds,
Could have touched these winds,
Bent and broken them down,
Could have stood up sharply in the sky.

Hi, all!!

I'm Barbara and I'm working on my Ed.D. and concentrating on educational use of computers. I'm done with prelims and am working on my dissertation. That's been not going so well -- I thrashed with a couple of different topics for more than a year, although one did lead to some publications. My adviser left campus for another position without letting me know her plans (!), so I've had to make some adjustments. Plus, my campus decided not to hire me back as a teaching assistant, so I moved and got a full time job. At least, I HAVE a job, which is becoming a scarce commodity among my friends.

BUT, I finally settled on a small, feasible topic and am moving ahead, making progress with the lit review.

Before I started my masters degree, I was in good shape. I worked out quite a lot (2 to 4 hours a day) and could eat pretty much anything I wanted. When the need to study trumped those workouts, I gained 30 pounds. So, I am working on losing those while still working and getting the dissertation done in a timely manner.

I'm working on the C25K plan (W5D3), and trying to figure out what is HEALTHY and QUICK to make for breakfast and dinner. And lunch ... oh the challenges of lunch ...
