Agree with Bhoomi2003. I too am a doctoral student and understand all too well that the stress of graduate school can get a "little" overwhelming at times. But exercise will help you relieve some of the stress. As for food, healthier food choices will also help keep your mind sharp.
It is easy to fall into the fast food trap if you are not prepared. Make sure you have plenty of healthy snacks within reach, this will make it easier to make healthier choices. Although graduate school comes with very little time, a little pre-planning before meals will help you a lot, and again take study breaks and come online to make use of the amazing resources available on Sparkpeople. Good luck with your MBA :-)

Congratulations on being in the MBA program! That is terrific and a great accomplishment in and of itself! I'm a doctoral student so I completely understand the stress you are under!

I have found that exercise has really been helping me. Not only is it giving me more energy, but it's making me feel good about taking care of myself, and inspiring me to be more careful about my food choices. Also, because it's a real sacrifice and commitment to find the time to exercise in the midst of doctoral studies, by taking the time, I'm finding myself much more willing and able to make consistently healthy food choices.

You're in the 2nd week of your program so you're in a great position to begin slowly, gently creating good habits. I've been in grad school for five years now - I finished an MA before beginning the PhD - and in the past five years with no exercise and being quite lax about my eating I gained 50 pounds. So, I would encourage you to use the newness of the program and the studies to also work on some new healthy lifestyle choices as well!

Beginning graduate study can be so overwhelming and stressful as you get used to everything. It occupies all of your being. I found it difficult to begin focusing on my health in this very new and different student lifestyle because I was so completely absorbed in the program. But, if you can carve out some mental space just for you - your health and well-being, if you can give yourself that gift early on, I think it will be one of the most wonderful gifts you can give yourself!

As you go on the journey you won't have to keep buying bigger clothes as I was, seeing your body change and morph so that it was unrecognizable! Yes, you will have to pull all-nighters, you will be faced with unbelievable mental challenges that tax your body more than you thought possible, and you will be too tired to exercise at times or make the healthiest food choices. But, making some small, gentle, kind changes to cherish and care for yourself in the midst of what can feel like hell itself, will do wonders! It will make you feel physically and psychologically stronger so that you will be able to handle the stresses and challenges of school better!

Good luck!!!!! I know you can do it!!!!

Hello everyone. I am in my second week of my MBA program. I feel so stressed, and am turning to my old friend food. Any suggestions?
