The shoestring budget is the worst! It doesnt allow for the "cool things" that the "big kids" get to do. I know what I do could easily be a 40-hr a week job, but I have to cram is all into 20, plus being involved, and conferencing to build my resume, and not to mention the little reason for the other things above, oh yeah, school and classes!
So nice to have people who understand. I really wish I could afford to buy the really healthy and organic foods. I wish I could afford a personal trainer. I wish I could afford a membership at a nice gym. But I have to buy what I can afford, and use the so unimpressive rec center...

Grad school sucks, are you kidding! Working this hard for $10,000 a year (at best) is awful. Taking out loans...

emoticon KAYAK18!

I can sympathize with your experience. I love graduate school too, but it's not the healthiest environment given that I am more sedentary, I sleep less, and I definitely don't eat as well as I have in the past. But, that doesn't mean I won't stop trying to live a healthier life!

I love grad school, really I do. But good lord does it make it difficult to stay a healthy individual! I am taking 12 semester hours, working an assistantship (where I don't get a lunch break-I snack at my desk as I go... talk about a disaster), and then theres homework, and work outside of my office hours...
The fitness center here on campus isn't amazing. I am taking a pilates course, and then theres the standard stuff. I don't have the money to join an outside center.
SparkPeople has been good for me so far, just over a week... hopefully it'll stick!
