hi lin and welcome sorry about all your conditions but you have an awesome attitude at that is important . I think you are on the right path . Losing weight on medication is very hard and you are on the way keep logging . emoticon emoticon

Thanks for taking on the leadership of the Team!
I'm Lin. I turned 60 yesterday (I can't believe I'm 60!!). I'm married for the 2nd time and have a wonderful husband. I also have a wonderful daughter from my first marriage. I have one grandson who I adore. We all live in Peterborough, ON, Canada.
You mentioned the health history in your family. For myself, like your son, I have Crohn's. Like your daughter and yourself, I have a pacemaker. Mine also has a defibrillator attached. I have Dilated Cardiomyopathy with Congestive Heart Failure and Obstructive Sleep Apnea. I now also have Mitral Regurgitation (leaky Mitral valve in my heart) and I may have to have open heart surgery. I am also a Type II insulin dependent Diabetic. Even before the CHF I had Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Restless Leg Syndrome. I'm kind of a mess but things could be a lot worse!!
I lost 20 lbs. on my own last year and since joining SparkPeople 11 weeks ago, I've lost an inch here and there but have been up and down the same bloody 4 lbs while keeping my cals between 900-1200 and my sodium below 1500 and watching my carbs, fats, and protein! My husband also needs to lose weight and he has lost some as I've cut down on our servings and made more drastic changes to our diet. But, it hasn't been enough. We have signed up with a local health clinic and we are going to be trying their weight loss program which is designed to reprogram your metabolism while you change your habits and learn to eat more healthily. I will be keeping up with SparkPeople for motivation and logging of my meals and exercise etc. though. Don't think I could manage without SparkPeople now. Lin
