Thanks so much for all of your input! And the stories!! Same thing, different day, right!!! We have 13 people in our dispatch center total. I work day shift with at least 2 other people at a time, sometimes 3. If we are busy, I don't have a problem at all! But, when we are slow, that is when I have to be careful. Because of course, we have a candy/snack machine right outside of dispatch! So I do have yogurts and bags of carrots, etc., in the fridge to grab if I need to!!! Thanks again for all of your input!

Yup ... the RO had to be thrilled to be called out of the crowd. He was probably scared to death at first ... wondering who in his family had just died or something. I'm sure he was not amused by the whole thing.

nope. Compleletely unrelated. Go figure. Guess the guy figures he can park wherever he wants. Deputy did have me run him, but I don't know if there's much he could do past having the guy move the truck. I have a hunch, knowing that deputy, when he went into the school to find the owner (basketball game in progress) he probably had someone announce to the entire assembly that he needed the owner of the vehicle. LMAO, the embarassment from being called out in front of everyone by a deputy should take care of it. You know the rumors are rocking and rolling by now! He did have me run the driver of the vehicle, so he had to get that information somewhere emoticon

So was the offending vehicle one left over from the earlier crash?

Nope, not 911. Not even a city ordinance issue, it was on private property -there we cross the line into civil dispute.

Had a 3 car pile-up in the parking lot of same school earlier, right when I was arriving at work.

Parking on a sidewalk ... now that's a hanging offence! He didn't call on 9-1-1, did he? Parking on, or blocking the sidewalk is a violation of city ordinance around here, so it would rate a admin call. It's not as big a deal (but just as illegal) in the summer when you can walk into the street, around the car and back up on the sidewalk, but in the winter when the streets narrow to about half their summer width because of accumulated snow it is a very big deal.

Tonight has been pretty slow. Not much happening. So far just some really dumb stuff - had a principal call in because someone parked on the sidewalk. WOO - watch out for that one! LOL

I eat more during downtime. If it's really busy, I completely forget to eat at all.

I was just the opposite. I could control my eating when I was free to think about doing so. When it got really hectic I would munch mindlessly ... that it to say I wasn't thinking about eating, I was concentrating on the call or calls. I made it a point to bring a ziploc baggie of carrot sticks, broccoli and cauliflower to work, along with fruits like apples, grapes or oranges. At least when I did munch I wasn't eating cookies or candy.

Is it me or do we always manage to graze when we get any downtime? I can attest that in my center. The good news is that we have the consoles that you can stand up in and that helps curb the grazing cause i'm up & moving.

Welcome Mary!

emoticon Mary ... emoticon to the 9-1-1 Weight Loss Losers team. It's nice to have you with us. I think we're all in the same boat when it comes to eating out of boredom. I try to find something to do with my hands so they don't pick up that food and shove it in my mouth. Sometimes I'm successful at doing that ... other times, not so much.

Welcome Mary!!!!! We're glad you're here!!! emoticon

And, LOL, I can relate to eating for ANY reason. I have a terrible time at work during slow hours, and home when I'm awake all night and everyone else is sleeping.

Hi Mary...

Moreso then stress, I would say that I definitely understand eating when you're bored. Our comm center is usually the dumping ground for whatever treats people bring in, leftovers from various meals, communal boxes of girl scout cookies, etc. It justs sits in the middle of the room and so often I have grabbed a cupcake or brownie or whatever simply because it's THERE and I thought I had nothing better to do at the time. :) I have found in the past couple of weeks that if I'm inching towards the food "pile" I turn around and find something to do on SP instead.... reading articles or the message boards has given me something else to do in those passing moments of boredom.

Welcome to the team! And no, you are not alone!!

Hi all!

I am not new to weight loss or to Sparkpeople, but I just found this group and thought it would be really neat to join! I have worked for a Sheriff's Dept for 10 years this June - 4 years before that at 2 different police departments!

I have a terrible habit of eating when I am bored (when we have that chance...) - anyone else find that??

Thanks! Mary
