I can soooo relate. I have never and and never will have child support. My daughter' father lives in another country and communicates intermittently. It is tough when u already work full time and have to take more shifts just to get that little bit extra that is left after the babysitter is paid. Family do help out occassionally but most of their kids are now adults ( I am an older mother) so they feel they've "done their share" or they just can't relate. Working harder also means less time to be with my daughter. I hate when I have repairs to my house and I don't have the physical strangth or the knowledge to do them and then u get contractors that take advantage of beng a single woman when they tell u the cost of repairs....ohh well so much for my rant..!!!

My first post back on Sparks and I have to say, I feel for you. *huggles* I do have support now, but I will be in your boat as my parents are moving 8 hours away and it will be just me and my 11 year old son. Kind of skeery when you think about it. :P

I completely agree with the poster who said, 'that which does not kill us makes us stronger'. Your strength and courage and ability to get through tough situations will show your child that life isn't always a bowl of cheeries but isn't it nice when we get a break? :) Life will be much more appreciated IMO and both you and your child will be all the better for it.

Come here and vent...it's a wonderful place and I hope to hear more about how your life is going. ^_^

You will get through this. I am a firm believer in "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger". I can't say that I completely understand, because my ex-husband does pay child support (he has no choice, they take it out of his check automatically) and I live in the town that I grew up in, so I have my family and friends for emotional support. However, being a parent in general isn't always easy, and when you don't have somebody to lean on, it makes it even harder at times. Feel free to PM me if you ever need anything :)

I feel your pain. I raised my 2 boys without any support from him. Infact, he disappeared right before my son's 1st day of school, which just happened to be MY 1st day of school, too!
But, the upside, I had my parents in town & my dad helped us financially, which was huge! Plus, just the emotional support of haing my parents close & alot of good friends. Now, 20+ years later, I have 2 adult sons who love & respect me. Even though they talk to their dad, he doesn't have a relationship with them & he totally missed out on the joys of spending the last 24 years with these 2 amazing boys! Plus, I didn't have to deal with the game & BS or split up holidays & send them off every summer...so, I think I got the best part of the deal!
So, trust me, you will get thru this!

I hear you on the support thing...why some 'parents' feel that it is not necessary to help their kids is beyond me emoticon

You have support!!! At least a place to vent. Sounds like the ex is a looser and who wants that around the kid. I had a neighbor with kids and we would take turns watching each others so we could get some sane time. Unfortunately she moved. Any possibilities in your neighborhood?

Hello
I am sorry to hear that your X does not want to see his kids and support them.
I am divorced and wish I could see my kids more, they are all teenagers now so they are busy and I just don't get too. But I feel for you and wish I could help. I don't know where you are located but if you ever need support and want to talk to someone, if you can get over me being a man LOL Trying to make you have a little smile,
I am here
Bill

I have no support here in this town, and I am going nuts b/c I have no child support and the father just doesn;t care neither do his parents. I should be fine with it, and at times I am, but the most difficult times I have is when I have to pay money for a babysitter just to earn a couple of dollars for gas and such. I am trying to forget the whole thing about child support but it always comes up when I have to find someone to watch my child. That is all I have to say today! Just had to get it off my chest!
