Wow. It is hard to imagine any adult not being able to figure out that chemo is devastating in its effects on you. It is literally poison; of course it is going to exhaust you. It's amazing you can do anything at all. I don't even know you and I'm proud for you for still functioning. Only you know what you need in the way of rest, so make sure you take care of yourself that way.

I'm so sorry you're been diagnosed with cancer. It must be so hard to deal with that, plus the chemo and it's side effects along with loved ones who don't understand. I know it's beyond frustrating when you can't make people understand what you're going through. The only way a person truly understands another's suffering is if it happens to them. Maybe your daughter could do some research online and learn about the crippling fatigue, nausea, brain fog and other side effects that people suffer from. My heart goes out to you in every way. I wish you help, healing, encouragement, and understanding.

Hi Welcome to the team. I am so sorry that you are dealing with this. I had a scare this year where the found something in my breast and had to redo the mammogram. Now they say I have to go every 3 months to make sure there are no changes in the breast tissue. My Dad had lung cancer and only had radiation. He was end stage 4 and given less than 6 months to live. There was no point in aggressively attacking the cancer. I saw how tired he got just from the radiation.

It is tough to know what to do or how to handle the situation. Everyone's nerves are raw and you all are probably all on edge. You can try to explain to them that you are just tired and you need encouragement, their remarks are hurting you. I use to volunteer for the American Cancer Society. They are a very good resource for support groups for both the patient and their families. The patient isn't the only one suffering. The family and loved ones of the patient are going through their own private hell and probably have questions, concerns and fears of their own. I was very fortunate, I had my co-workers to get me through. My Dad allowed his Dr. to talk to one of our nurses and she explained everything to me. I went to all my father's Dr. appointments with my Mom and brother, not radiation appointments.

I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

I love SparkPeople

I am a grandmother of 9 and they keep me busy. I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and on chemo. It did not help my depression but I am doing well. The biggest problem is that chemo causes fatigue and no one understands. They all say take a nap or my daughter the gymnastics coach says just get up and go and it doesn't work that way I need encouragement not smart comments

Have a great day
