I have been with SP since 2006. I have had problems with depression off and on through the years. I am so glad I found this team. I look forward to getting to know all or some of you. Thanks Allie

Hi JSMITH165 emoticon and emoticon to the Sparkpeople and the Dealing with Depression Team! Most of us suffer from depression and some with other diagnosis, as well. We will help you all we can with your challenges. You are not alone. We do listen and we do care. You sound as if you have a great attitude and a positive, upbeat way of looking at the task at hand. If you want to start off with the basics we have a Team Challenge that just started Aug 1 st. We would love to have you join us if you are at all interested. The Challenge consists of drinking 8 glasses of water, doing 10 minutes of exercise 4 or 5 days a week, and then a personal goal of your own. My personal goal is to get out of the house at least one time a day for the next 31 days. Yours can be anything that you really want to work on. We check in every Sunday at a minimum and share our progress with the rest of our team members. However, many of us check in more often for extra support and encouragement. The choice is up to you. You can find the thread by scrolling down past the Team Wall on the Team Page to the General Discussion Forum. It is listed as the 30 Day Challenge/Water Accountability Thread. Stop on by and see the thread for yourself and check us out. It may be something that you are looking for as you start out your journey here. It is a great way to make some new friends, work on the basics and get accountability, motivation and encouragement as you work towards your goals. We hope to see you there. This is a terrific site and a wonderful team. We are very caring and compassionate. I hope that you will consider turning your Sparkpage online and making it public. We can offer you so much more in the way of support if you do. We can "friend" you, leave inspirational messages, learn more about you through your blogs should you choose to document your journey and send you the occasional "virtual goodie" to brighten your day. I would have sent you a welcoming goodie, but I can't until you get your Sparkpage up and running. A whole new world awaits as you work towards your goals and make positive changes in your lifestyle. We are really excited that you have decided to join us!! Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon

Welcome Jen! We're glad you joined us.

For some reason when I read the email announcing your post, my brain interpreted the topic as "Hello, New to this forum but not too depressed", to which I would have responded, well, you can't be here unless you're like Eeyore. emoticon

Yes, I amuse myself. It's a character flaw, but I'm not working on it.

Welcome to a great team of caring, compassionate and helpful people. Since you mentioned your knees and back, consider making the long walk in to 2-3 shorter walks with rest for your body.

Hello, New to this forum but not to depression. Having a lot of pain in back and knees as a result of putting on an extra 20 pounds during a long depressive period recently. Hoping to find some support, motivation and a bit of accountability to continue to work towards an overall healthy outlook here in the Spark-forums through positive thinking and healthy exercise and eating. Thanks Sparkpeople for providing this site.

Have a wonderful day all, Im heading out the door for a nice long walk.

Jen

Have an Awesome Day!
