I am hopeful that I won't have anymore miscarriages, as I know they are very common and a lot of women have at least one.

Unfortunately, right now my birth control is partly for my health (letting my adenomyosis shrink), as well as preventing pregnancy. In addition, I have a lot of days lately where I can't even get out of bed. So, I'd hate to bring a baby into the world before I have this figured out. I am taking a more proactive approach to my health, though. Getting more involved and becoming my own advocate so I can get help and diagnoses taken care of. I am determined to have stuff on the right track by the end of 2016 and am hopeful I can start trying in 2017. I know I won't be anywhere near my goal weight by then, but if I can just start feeling healthier I'll be happy.

Welcome Alyssa!

I have also had a miscarriage back in April and am now 30 weeks pregnant with a baby boy. I know it can be hard to try again and not worry that the same thing will happen. Just know that miscarriages are sooo much more common then we even realize. Once I had a miscarriage and opened up to people about it, I couldn't believe the number of them that told me the same thing had happened to them.

If you are worried about it taking time to try, why not go off birth control all together and work on your health and well being while still trying? I don't know if that is an option you want to explore.

Either way good luck to you! We are all here and very supportive!

We have been through two miscarriages and just welcomed our son into the world five weeks ago - anything is possible! You are going to do great!!! Make a plan, write it out on a calendar and start ticking off those days!!!

I started typing this in the main introductions post and realized it was LONG and deserved its own post. lol. I'll swing by over there, too. Just to say hi to anyone who doesn't read this long post. emoticon

Hi there. Alyssa here.

I'm in a decidedly unique situation (and am willing to answer any respectful questions about it). My husband and I are polyamorous. We opened our marriage up after much discussion about it, and are allowing each other to safely explore new relationships with other people. I have a man I've been with since April, who I consider a second husband. And my legal husband (henceforth known as Aaron) has a girl he is courting and may soon date. (On a side note, I'm really excited. They seem to really like each other!!!)

So, before I can get pregnant, we have to all be "ready" to some extent. Aaron and I will have a baby before Dylan (the other husband) and I do, and before Aaron and Christen (or whoever he ends up dating seriously, if it's not her) do. We have been trying off and on since we got married nearly 9 years ago, so this seems to be the fair way for us.

There is a lot going on in our decision to wait to get pregnant, not the least of which is my health and weight. I have a slew of health problems (hypothyroidism, IBS, severe depression, just to name a few) that I would like to have somewhat controlled before I become pregnant. My weight is at an all-time high for me, and I would ideally like to lose at least 50 pounds before I attempt pregnancy. Right now I am on Mirena, in an attempt to lessen my period cramps (no good so far, and I'm actually getting them more often, because the hormones are giving me a period every 2-7 days!!!) and to prevent pregnancy, since "the pill" makes me insanely nauseated and messes with my mood. Mirena messes with my mood a little, but we're experimenting with an upped dosage on my anti-psychotic/mood stabilizer to see if that will curb the depressive side effects.

I do have some worries when it comes time to actually try TTCing again. I have had a miscarriage in the past, I have cystic ovaries (the doctor is not sure if I qualify for "PCOS", because my androgens are in the normal range), and I have adenomysis. Aaron is disabled, and we're not sure how well his little swimmers swim. Obviously well enough to get me pregnant once. But that was once out of probably a hundred tries. Once we're ready, we hope to have enough money for fertility testing. And we are prepared for adoption being our only choice.

Anyhoo. There's my story. Sorry it's so long. I hope I can get to know some of you along this journey, and see tons of BFPs before my stay is up and I (hopefully) get my own. emoticon
