Mid Atlantic Tri Club in Columbia ( www.midmdtriclub.org )does have group training all year round a well.

For my winter running, I run with a group as well as with a local running club, Howard County Striders ( www.striders.net ). Baltimore has the Baltimore Road Runners Club ( www.brrc.com ) and they run all year round as well.

The Baltimore Bike Club is also active all year round. I spin indoors in the winter. I can run in freezing weather but I can't bike in the cold.

Welcome. There are two tri clubs that I know of in Maryland: Baltimore Area Tri Club (BATC) and Mid Atlantic Tri Club (DC/Columbia, etc). Check into those, too--I know BATC has group workout throught the year, including off season.

Do you have a trainer for your bike? Low cost investment, and you can workout at home, instead having to work around a spin class schedule. And stay in the pool, keep logging the laps, and you will gradually feel more comfortable.

EDITED TO ADD: GLADGAD has a great tri checklist that is very helpful. Even though you have done a tri, I find it great to have a checklist there for comparison and to reduce the stress each race!

Welcome! Glad to hear you're hooked, but then after one, most people are.

To keep in shape over the winter you should continue with all three disciplines. Find a pool and swim, do a spinning class, and run either on the treadmill or even better, outside. As long as the weather holds up you can ride outside, too.

Since the swim was the most terrifying for you, that's what you should work on most. I know that it's easy to concentrate on the area that we most enjoy, but if you want the next race to go even better, work on the area that gives you the most trouble. For me it's the bike - I just can't seem to get enough oomph out of myself.

You can find free workouts online or look for some books in your library or bookstore. I like anything by Matt Fitzgerald or David Scott. Also, if you have not already, check out the Beginner Triathlete website: www.beginnertriathlete.com .

Enjoy!!

Welcome. Baltimore has a lot of triathlons nearby including DC. Go to www.trifind.com to check out triathlons.

To name a few:
Celebration Sprint in June
DC Tri in June
Northeast Tri in August

Hello team! I completed my first ever sprint triathlon in October, and I'm looking forward to doing a few more next summer! My first tri experience was incredible! The swim was terrifying, but once I got through that, I felt much better! :) I finished in 1:42:58...well under my goal of 2 hours!

Now that the season is through, I'm still trying to get into a good offseason workout routine. Any suggestions are welcome!

Looking forward to getting to know the team! :)
