Hi everyone. Am pretty new to this team and thought I'd introduce myself. Live in a small city in New England with my husband and daughter, trying to reverse the 5lbs here and there that snuck up on me. Boo! Here to join the team to journey along the SP goals with fellow outdoor lovers. Have lived in Montana, Alaska and rural South Dakota. Roots in NE and happy here but I get a ton of vicarious pleasure to hear about peoples outdoor adventures out west too. SO thank you and am looking forward to the journey.... emoticon emoticon

Gaaa! I should proof read when I type. I meant to say his 6 year enlistment ended way more than 6 years ago...

Hi Kriss--

I'm guessing that if you are living south of Kenosha that someone is stationed at Great Lakes near Waukegan, IL. Back in the dark ages, my husband did his Navy basic training there, but his 6 year enlistment has been over for way over 6 years. We've never lived in Kenosha. We now live in Madison. Good luck finding other people with similar goals where you are. Take care and be well.

Aster

But Fort McCoy doesn't have the benefit of Lake Michigan to keep it "warm". A friend of mine spent some of his Army time at Ft. Drum in NY. Now that is cold!

Hey Sean, welcome!

I spent a long cold winter at Ft McCoy a couple years ago. The cold was brutal, even for a Michigan man. We went out on the firing line one morning and it was snowing so hard we couldn't see the 50 meter targets. Mudding in the humvee after the thaw was great though.

My goal: 195 lbs
My dream: a healthy, active life
My motivation: My wife and daughter, Kailee!

Hi Sean--

Welcome. My husband and I live in Madison now but I grew up in the Milwaukee suburbs. I think we shut off our paddling season a few weeks ago when the Sunday morning of our canoe camping trip ended up being 4 miles of 46 degrees farenheit down the Wisconsin River in the rain. This weekend though we're headed up to the town his parents live in on Lake Superior. Besides the kayaking and canoeing, I'm a year round bike commuter as long as the pavement is clear and I suppose in a couple of months I could be back to the X-Country skiing.

Hi Sean... Welcome to the Outdoor People team! You'll find lots of people here with the same likes and goals that you have ... quite a few kayakers, rock climbers, runners, hikers, and oh yeah... as you can see from my photo... a diver or two, LOL

You'll find most of us "hanging out" and sharing our outdoor adventures (and sometimes our "misadventures") on the "happy hour on the deck" thread... hope to see ya there!

choc :)

Just keep swimming!

Never give up!
