Chanteuse, welcome and you have chosen a good group to belong to. Everyone is so kind and helpful and the information is wonderful. I love the tracker and use it to the full extent. It has kept me honest. Take it one day at a time and don't try to do to much to start with. It can be overwhelming.

Hi, all. I've lost more than 50 lbs twice in the last 10 years, but haven't managed to keep it off, although I am still about 35# below my highest weight. Anyway, in July, I went to the ER with what I believed to be a stomach bug (nausea and dizziness), thinking it would mean anti-nausea meds and fluids before returning home. Instead, they discovered a heart block (electrical, not vessel) and bradycardia (very low heart rate). Not only was I admitted, I was admitted directly to the ICU, and left three days later with a shiny new pacemaker.

I have an incredibly full and busy life.....four children, four grandchildrean with one on the way, mom, siblings, work AND.....I returned to school last year. Btw, I'm 59. My life is richly blessed, and I REALLY want to avoid a repeat performance, so.......I made an appointment with a dietitian (yes, I already knew what I need to do) and saw her on Monday.

She was the one who suggested that I join sparkpeople, in order to closely monitor my nutritional goals, and get some other support. I've successfully used another site in the past. One day at a time, I want to make this a real, lasting habit. So this is my reboot. She wants me to lose at least 20 pounds; my goal is a bit more than that. However, I know they come off one by one, the same way they went on. So day by day, pound by pound, I'm going to do this and make it STICK!
