Oh, please don't quit. I know that it seems hard at times. Just remember, this is only for a season. The children will not be young forever and there are always going to be trials we walk through. But walking through them together is so worth it. I've been homeschooling for over nine years, my oldest being in ninth grade. Yes, we do have the "school fits", but I have to remember they are gifts from God and I would rather my influence be on them rather than the public schools'. Not saying all public schools are bad, but this way I know for sure what is going in, because it will eventually come out. Trust and pray for guidance and strength. He will not fail you! emoticon

Sorry to be so slow in answering. Guess I was waiting to see if anyone truly has an answer. :)

I have two in high school, and I don't think the hassles really go away. I think you'd have the same or more with the public school program. I'm trusting God to give them what they need. And as they go through high school and take some/all of the responsibility for knowing it affects their future, and it's up to them, they'll step up to the plate. Lots of trusting!

Don't quit =) Just like parenting, homeschooling has its bumps in the road. I homeschool my son that is in 5th grade. This is our second year homeschooling. Don't be so hard on yourself. Just take a step back and reevaluate things. Maybe a change in curriculum? I'd be happy to brainstorm with you if you want. Have you tried having your children help choose the curriculum? My son doesn't care for math and we've had a few days of math games on the computer as a reward for finishing a chapter. That has helped. There are so many different curricula and approaches out there - at least with homeschooling you have the flexibility to find what works. A school isn't going to put that extra effort into inspiring a life long love of learning!

I am new to this team. Wanted to just introduce myself and my family. We have been homeschooling now for 4years. We do school year round so we can take a week off here or there. We started school in the private then went public when my Girl was having trouble keeping up. Private schools do not have resourses in which to help struggling learners. So we went public. We had the best two years ever to then get the worst year ever. Then the last year there the teachers told me how great my Girl was doing when she wasn't working in class. She brought it ALL home to do. So we started homeschooling. My boy is the polar oppisite. He made Honor Roll and Princial's List without trying. He was a year behind her. Soooo we bumped him up to see what he could do, and slowed her down. They are both in the 7th grade. They think so much alike when she "gets it". But when she doesn't it is such a battle. Any ideas? We have tears every school day. I just want the tears and the "homework fits" to stop. We are thinking about going back to public school for high school because of the battles we have every single day. Why does school have to be so hard? And please don't give me the answer my public school friends gave, "Cuz it's school, duh." HELP READY TO GIVE UP.

"There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're COMMITTED to something, you accept NO EXCUSES; only results."

I tired of being sick and tired all the time!! Time to do something about it!!

And This Too Shall Pass.

LIFE is like an echo..........
