I just joined here, but am a long time vegetarian, in fact as soon as I was out of my carnivore family's influence I ate vegetarian. I loved it. But then my Naturopath wanted me to go vegan and its been a struggle getting the complete protein in without raising the calories and carbs through the roof! Interestingly, I ate lots of fat for satiety, but didn't gain weight. Cottage cheese was my go to low fat low calorie protein and I miss it :-( Mark Hyman Eat Fat Get Thin was an inspiration but is a meat based diet and involves extremely low carb, not possible with a vegan diet. Unfortunately this keto diet seems the best for healing although there are a few vegan proponents.

When one door closes, I simply kick down another one!! Never Give up!

I'm new too. I've been looking at Dr. Joel Fuhrman you tube videos, books, etc.. I also found a pretty good website. PCRM Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine

Hello, everyone..
I've been on every diet known to man (Akins, Jenny Craig; etc.). Finding the "vegetarian way" so eating is such a good fit for me. Giving up meat wasn't a problem and no side effects (crankiness..haha). Most of all, I've saved money emoticon
I have been (or thought I was) doing the vegetarian eating plan correctly (only a few months). Wow, I've had so much energy lately and then ONE annual visit to the doctor...I've only lost 9lbs. She indicated that beans were carbs (silly me) and not considered protein. I guess I just don't know how to do this plant based stuff. Was I fooling myself? I just don't know because since I stopped eating meat I've had so more energy. I make my own bread (unbleached) and I don't eat that much of it. Sweets? no problem with that. I can take it or leave it. Exercise is a problem for I have to sit down at a desk all day..Oops, that's one of my problems. However, I do a lot of housework in the AM before beginning my day.
Can somebody help me with an eating guide or advise? Thanks
