Good Morning,

I am a full-time daycare provider in my home and the mother to 3 active boys. I am looking forward to making 2010 the year of organization. I am good at cleaning one room at the expense of another. This is the year. I look forward to great tips and encouragement. Thanks, Lisa

Hello! I am a 25 year old mother and wife. My son is 4 years old and in preschool. I am a stay at home mother and we live in Arizona. I am very into organization, but never have the energy to do it. I am hoping I am going to get some motivation and great ideas from this group!!

Hi! I'm Amy. I am married, have a 3 year old and a 4 month old, and that means I also have a bunch of things to keep after on a daily basis. People who know me say that I like to organize a lot, but I think I lack in a lot of different areas. I'm always changing my systems looking for the next best thing. This in itself is pretty stressful. So I'm here to learn a few new things and get motivation for those things I totally ignore. Like my (sigh) garage.

Hi, I currently live in a small one bedroom apartment and it's a mess. It's just me living there, so there's no excuse. I would like to get organized and decluttered so that moving (whenever that will be) will be easier and I'll be ready and organized enough to make time for that special someone whenever I meet him.

Hi everyone! My name is Cheryl and I want to get back to my "organized" way of living! Things somehow seem to have gotten out of hand in my home and it drives me nuts!!! I have a teenage son and a hubby -- so as soon as I clean or organize something -- it doesn't take long and its back to square 1 with cleaning up again! So, if I could declutter -- which I know I should do -- it would be a great help in the clean house category of life and the organization which I so miss!!

Hi! I'm new to the team. I'm hoping to declutter my living space in hopes it declutters my body. I went on a declutter binge about 2 weeks ago and did 3 clothes closets. We donated 4 big bags of clothes, shoes and stuff. My biggest clutter now is the computer desk and all the cabinets. We are pilers at home. We stack mail, magazine, receipts, coupons and plenty of other things. One end of the table always has something on it. I need to figure this out!

I have 50 lbs to lose and I think if I shed some of the junk in my space, I might be able to shed some junk in my trunk!

I have about 50 pounds to lose and would love to lose a whole lot of clutter as well. I can't believe just how much stuff I have and I manage to keep adding instead of subtracting. Unfortunately, the same holds true for my weight.

When I go to a friends house that is neat and organized, I find myself very relaxed. On the other hand, I am almost horrified to have friends over to my house!

I'm glad I've found this site and I joined the challenges of 15 minutes a day of decluttering!

I admit it to myself and now to you. I am cluttered. Cluttered to the point of waking up and feeling panicked about how I am going to deal with this issue. I have many reasons for the delay in looking through my things and giving them up. I will not bore with those details as I am certain that they are the same as many of yours. I am looking forward to getting the information and support that will help me succeed with issue as it has become overwhelming to deal with it alone.

Hi Everyone! Welcome to a great team!! We all have some type of clutter issues whether they are small, medium or so large we are at our wits end! This is a great place for ideas and support! It just takes a minute at a time to start de-cluttering our lives. It makes it much easier when we can get our family members to help out too. There is quite a lot of information that has been posted to help us all. When ever you get a chance start reading some of them. Remember there are many older posts too, that are very helpful!! Welcome again everyone!!

Hi I have always struggled with keeping my home clean and tidy. It has had a significant impact on my life, affecting my social life, my self-esteem, and my diet. We currently live in rented property, and every inspection time is extremely stressful as we desperately try to bring the state of the bungalow up to scratch, and I become very anxious that we will lose our home. I really do try my best, and the first year living here was fine, but when health problems started it became ever more difficult to keep things straight. I love where we live (myself and two sons) and so want to make it beautiful, want to create the warm, welcoming, character home I clearly imagine. The one area in which I manage to keep tidy and organised is when studying, I need a clear mind and am motivated to have everything neat and in place around me.

When my home is clean, tidy and organised I feel so much better, get an emotional lift when I walk into tidy rooms, mind feels calmer, and I feel better about myself. Before my current health problems I did actually manage to keep the kitchen clean and tidy every day for two weeks, which was a great achievement for me, so I can do this; I will do this - and this team and the challenges will help enormously!

Hi,
I am new to this team and can relate to every post. I am a pack rat and my husband is very neat & organized.I drive him crazy!!
I am reading Peter Walsh's book "It's All Too Much" and also Marriage Fitness and realize I need to put my husband 1st. He doesn't deserve to live with all my clutter - It really is a drain on our marriage.
I do a little bit every day and am selling some stuff on ebay. I know I could do a lot more and will keep
working on it one day at a time!!
I am so glad I found this team!!

I came across this Spark Team on CALOUSTE's spark page as her blog about B vitamins caught my eye. I admit it, I am a pack rat. My hubby is a neat freak. His mother's house was so neat and clean, you could eat off the floors! It seems as though I have been trying to clean my house and get rid of stuff forever. I am drowning in stuff!!! At the beginning of the summer, I promised myself that I would really focus on cleaning out the house before school started up again this fall. I did get a considerable amount done, but not as much as I would have liked. Okay, so I have two out of five kids still living at home and boxes and stuff belonging to two who are no longer living here occupying two bedrooms and a portion of the garage. But I'm not going to blame them. Instead, I'm going to join the team challenge and do at least 15 minutes four days a week (when I'm not on the road) to continue what I started this summer. Once I've gotten rid of my junk, I'll start on the kids. This is a wonderful Spark Team!!! I belong here.

Hi. I'm new. I've been working on getting rid of clutter for years. I have my living areas all clutter free. My bedroom, office and downstairs have been clutter free but it's been sneaking back lately and i need to get things back in control. I'm also changing my downstairs into an art studio. It was my son's gaming room but now he's finishing his last year at college so it's going to be my room again! I'm hoping that making daily commitments in this team will help me get back to a clutter free house again.

Hello. New to the team.

I've been trying to get clutter free for years. Just can't seem to get it together! My mother was/is a packrat; my father is a neatfreak. Needless to say I inherited one of my mother's bad habits. She's a bit more organized with hers.

Glad to have found this team and looking forward to some challenges to help me become clutter free before 2010 steps in!

Have an awesome day!

Hello, I am new to this team. When I found this team I knew it was for me! I just realized how I need to de clutter my home yesterday while searching for important documents. Wow I have outdated no longer needed old documents from about 10 years ago. I need to put my shredder to work! I also need to make my home more simple its getting harder and harder to clean and dust this. I want to simplify it so I can have less housework and more time for exercise. I had a yard sale a few weeks ago but I think I will get ready to have another one.

Hi, I just found out about this team. I actually have been using Peter Walsh's book to declutter my home office space and living room for the past few days. I've tossed out 10 giant bags of junk and am still working at it. Using this new approach of envisioning what I want for the space really helps.

I haven't been productive in my home office work and I know that decluttering the area could help a lot. I plan to keep at it tomorrow.

Hi. I'm Diane. I've been on SP about 10 months but just found this team. WOW! I really need this. Like many others here, I have books, magazines, craft projects, collectibles, clothes, tools, etc etc etc everywhere! I'll be checking out the forums in the hopes of finding some tried and true methods to declutter my home and my body!

So excited to find this team! My family and I just downsized (happily) and went through a huge purge of belongings...and then realized we could have purged more. We've been working with an organizer and freecycling more and more things, finding ourselves with a manageable amount of stuff in the house. It's such a stress reliever to let it all go.

I have two small kids and am a teacher so the piles have a tendency to build up in the house. Hopefully this team and the challenges will help me stay on track with that!

Hi Spark People, I just added Clutter Free Living to my list of teams. That makes 16 teams for me. Is that another form of clutter? My name is Rick. I'm a 64 year-old grandfather, living with my wife in Oakland,CA. I know getting rid of clutter and excess weight will help me live the life I want. My "office" is overflowing with books, binders, folders, papers, clothes, tools, and exercise equipment. My dog barely has a place to lay down.
I will take Sandra-G's advice and start with a small area like my desktop.

Hello Everybody my name is Linda. I am new to this team, I found this site on someones spark page and knew I needed to join in with you. It has been a slow process simplifying the past several years! I am hopeful I can get more serious now. My husband is my biggest setback. As I attain some goals I am hoping he will learn from me!?!
We still have unpacked boxes in the garage from our move and no place to park our car!

Hi all
I've been reading "Does This Clutter Make My Butt Look Fat?" and it definitely resonates. My dad is OCD about neatness and I think my messiness goes back to revolting against him. But I'm 57 now, so if I want a house that I won't be embarrassed to have people see, then it is up to me. I've been trying to declutter for years. A little decluttering followed by entropy re-establishing clutter.

Hi Butterfly!

I suggest trying to work on one small area at the time, like a kitchen drawer or 1 pantry shelf. Before coming here, I felt like I had to go about it all at once but it didn't get that way all at once.

Treat it like eating an elephant, one small bite at the time. I also like the 30 day forum below, taking projects one day at the time. However, I found that one of those "days" could last me a week.

Good luck and let me know if I can help you.]

Hi all! I'm not new to Sparkpeople but am now getting active with it again. I'm a recovering packrat, and am in the process of decluttering my life. I figured it'd be a good time to rid my self of all of my extra weight, both on my body and in my life!
I'm moving this week, and am proud to say I have packed less than I am getting rid of. I've thrown away 3 huge bags of junk, and am having a garage sale to rid myself of everything else. What doesn't sell will be donated or freecycled!
Looking forward to having a clutter free life! :)

Laurie :)

Hi everyone!
I've been on Spark People a little over a month. In the past, I've successfully put my HOUSE on a "1000 pound diet" - twice. (literally weighing/estimating the amount out the door until it equaled a half a ton!) BUT...I have real trouble maintaining it!

From my experiences I can share ideas on how to get rid of it - but please teach me how to MAINTAIN it once I have! LOL

I'm a busy, working mom and "things" just seem to overwhelm me! Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Hello team! My name is Amber. I'm from Greensburg, PA. I feel right at home on this team after reading some of the posts.
I don't have a single drawer in my home that's not filled with clutter. I have laundry baskets all over the house with mish-mash clothes that need putting away.
So the only question is......why didn't I find this team sooner??? LOL.

Words can't bring you down
You are beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring you down, oh no,
So don't you bring me down today...

Hello, I'm Linda from Texas. I'm a junk junkie! I love garage sales and thrift shops, flea marts and antique shops, too! I have books and magazines in every room of the house including the garage! I need to stop this madness! My DH is fed up with all my junk! I'm hoping this team will motivate me to get rid of my junk as well as get rid of some weight!!

Howdy everyone! This is my second team to join... have only been a sparker since last week and now heading into the groups. This one is perfect for me: I certainly need the motivation to clean up and get to a simpler way of living.

Can't wait to read through more of the posts ................

Hi everyone! I'm excited to be find an active team that addresses clutter. I love the feeling of de-cluttering and you'd think that I'd be DONE by now! However, I find myself doing another, deeper round of de-cluttering every year for the past several years. I'm inspired to start the next round.

I wrote a blog yesterday that expresses where I am with this pretty well. Here it is:

Friday, July 03, 2009

You know what I realized this morning??? I have been letting a stack of PAPERS intimidate me! PAPERS! When I realized that this is how I feel concerning the "stuff" stored in the computer armoire, I decided that this sick little trend is coming to a screeching halt. To-day.

I refuse to let procrastination continue to rule and conquer me. "Procrastination, you are going down!" I am in charge of my life. I say what stays and what goes. I make decisions. I pray. I let go. I savor the accomplishment.

I'M EXCITED!!!!!!! I'm about to go kick some procrastination a**!!! This is my independence day gift to myself!

Good Morning emoticon . Although the emoticon is coming down here in Central Florida. I have been on the constant task of trying to clear clutter out of my house and life for what seems like forever. This year, re-starting a commitment to get fit and lose some weight, has allowed me to purge my closet of too big clothes, although I still have more purging in the closet to go.

I find I am very sentimentally attached to things and need a kick in the &%# to throw stuff away. I am a true book addict. I have shelves and shelves of books to read - not willing to part with them until I read them. In most cases, I give them away to the library - in a few cases I will keep the book to re-read.

Looking forward to seeing your challenges and maybe that will give me the kick I need.

Ihave hesitated to join a new team as it is hard to keep up with very many teams, but the truth is I need to declutter even more than I need to lose weight, and I need to do that, too. We will be in this house 2 years in September and I haven't unpacked everything yet and every surface is piled with stuff! I am very organized at work... I think I inherited this trait. I hate to throw anything out! Help!
