A month later, but HELLO Alicia! Hope you are still checking in here. Please post a little piece out of the novel that you're writing--I'd love to read it.
I have a drawer full of writings, including three novels, several short stories, and some dabblings in poetry. There are two publishers looking at a youth novel I wrote which is a time travel thing set at a derelict girl's school in my hometown. I have been waiting since July to hear something back--it takes so long. Finding the time to write is a big challenge--but a bigger one is finding a publisher that will even take the novel out of the envelope and read it--and this can take months, even years. Getting published is very very difficult, unless you are extremely lucky...what I have learned is that no matter how excellent your writing is, you must have a "grab"--a unique, never-been-done-before angle that will pique an editor's interest.
Good luck!

Lead me not into temptation; I can find the way myself.

Wishing you the best on your novel writing, I have one in the making, has been for years and am still working on it ~ someday my book will be on the bookstore shelves. All that said, thank you also for your invite, I might pop around one of these days when I am not too busy, baking, shopping, wrapping, crafting, writing, visiting.....

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Hey there! My name is Alicia, and I am thrilled to be here! I love to write! I've been doing it since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, and I love it still. It is my gift and my passion, and I can't wait to share it with the world someday. I have written poetry for weddings and funerals, but my life-long dream has always been to see my work in print.

I am happily married (for 14 years) with three daughters, 13, 9, and 3. I have always written poetry, but aspire to write a novel or two before I leave this world. I've got one in the works right now, and an idea for another. I'm currently at a stand-still while I am in the research phase, but I do have the first five chapters done! I give myself four more years to complete it, so I can sell it in time to send my first born to college! (Then if I'm lucky enough to make it big, I'll live in fear of deadlines! LOL!)

Having a husband, three children, a house to maintain, and a job at a veterinary hospital keeps me very busy, but obviously not busy enough to keep my weight down. I just turned 34, I am 5' 1" and weigh 250 pounds. That's actually my first goal, in fact! I haven't seen 250 in over four years, and I was ecstatic to finally reach it, thanks to the Biggest Loser challenge that I am currently a part of.

Well, I suppose this has been long-winded enough. I told you I love to write! I look forward to making some great friendships here and sharing ideas, successes, suggestions, encouragement, and anything else that an awesome team might share!

Feel free to visit my Spark Page to get to know me a little better, and of course, feel free to visit the team I lead (Personal Matter Chatter) and please join if you think it's a place you'd like to hang out! Thanks for having me!
