Welcome back! I wonder if a yak would like our climate in the Pacific NW. Banana trees only grow indoors here. I am glad your property is being used as a salmon preserve. That would make me feel good too. Can I ask what part of Washington it was located in. I live across the river from Washington, so spend plenty of time there.

Regarding weight loss or gain. I lost 50 pounds last year and have maintained a 40-50 pound loss since last April. I have another 50 to lose, but I only set little goals, so would like to shed another ten pounds by my birthday in Jun. Hoping to kick start that during Lent.

My advice to everyone is to log in for ten minutes daily. Read something such as an article or a good thread to help keep healthy living in the front of your mind. I could not do this without that daily connection. I think that is what kept me from gaining the weight back.

I don't have even an acre anymore or my sheep, so I need this team to get my farm fix. I do plan on gardening this year.

Count me in! I am a wannabe 'thin old other' since I don't have a farm. The company got a new contract and is building an apartment building where Eva and I used to grow bananas. An Indian friend (from Bombay) heard that my wife and I had some property in Washington State. He scolded us for letting it lay fallow. He told us we should use it to grow bananas or raise yaks! Talk about cultural differences! (it was all trees and wetlands - later sold to a developer for a salmon preserve. We didn't make money, but feel good knowing the land is still part of Mother Earth).

It's good to have you back. For what ever reason, I was thinking about you the other day and wondering how you were.
Yes, taking off the weight (the first time) was easy--keeping it off is another thing--hard thing!
I've gained a pants size!!HORROR!!! but am determined to get back to my size 12's. It is so much harder this time, maybe because it's 6 years down the road?? or maybe I'm just not trying hard enough.but whatever the "reason" we can be each others support and motivation.

"We are what we repeatedly do; excellence then is not a single act, but a habit." - Aristotle

Don't be content with average. Average is as close to the bottom as it is to the top.

We're in this together, it's so hard to keep the weight off. I made a decision to reenter my ending weight goal and see if that helps. I think it's portion control. I did good until a year ago I started to slip and quit posting my daily calories, thought I could get by, didn't work. I too am rededicating myself.
Let's do it together.

I just didn't make it on my own. Since my departure in 2010 I have gained fifteen pounds and am not even aware of how I managed it. OK - maybe I am slightly aware. So I am back and hope my dependable, loyal, hardworking, salt of the earth friends can show me a good example, then I might be able to succeed and pass it on to others. Hope to see you more often - my bad for leaving, I know!
