Hi and Welcome PapaBG.

I am one of the "others". My farming consists of two pet sheep. We recently have been babysitting a neighbor's lone sheep while he was waiting to replenish his flock.

The neighbors came down yesterday to catch their sheep. They ran the sheep in circles on our acre then right out through the fence and into the 30 acres next to us. It was hilarious to watch.

Bananas are one of my favorite fruit too. I would love to hear more about farming near Budapest.

So, speaking as a farmer, what is the gestation period of the banana? I need to learn something new every day.

Great idea for a book - the care and feeding of bananas. I'll have to post some photos. BTW, the fruit in the pic here are plums from our trees in Budapest. They are pretty nutritious as well.

Hi and welcome. Bananas are one of my favorite. You'll have to give us a few lessons on all that you do to raise them. I raise holsteins/cats/one hinny and have 80 acres of native grass that is cut and baled once a year.

Don't be content with average. Average is as close to the bottom as it is to the top.

You sure do qualify as a farmer. Bananas are on of my favorite fruits, they pack real well for lunch in the cab and are clean to eat. When I think back the way I used to farm with all the livestock it's like a vacation today.

I don't know if I qualify to be an old fat farmer. My wife and I are raising bananas here in Saudi Arabia. We have four trees and should produce at least eighty pounds of bananas this year. Does this qualify? I'd like to be a cowboy, but I'm afraid of cows.
