I agree with Maxmasch.. I don't feel hungry and am eating more now just trying to keep my calories in range and I have lost 4 pounds.. before I didn't eat as much and I just couldn't loose the weight.. It is amazing how it works

If you only eat 500 cal a day you shoul eat vitamins every day. I have read (European health magazin) that if youre generally below 1500 cal you can have dificulties getting all the different vitamins your body needs.

Welcome! I have to agree about trying to eat the minimum. I've never been as low as 500, but sometimes I come in a bit below 1200. However, from what I've read, you've got to have the minimum number of calories to fuel your body otherwise it will store up "just in case."

Good luck!

Yep it is weird how that works. I never feel hungry and thus didn't use to eat much. I struggled to loose a pound too.

Now, with SP I am eating 1400-1700 calories a day and my weight is slowly dropping.

Our bodies need fuel to burn calories.

Hi Lisa, welcome to the team!

I often have trouble meeting my suggested calorie range as well, although I am slowly improving. I am not; however, ever only eating 500 calories per day. Maybe try packing some meal replacement bars in your purse, or some fruit. I think that it will be difficult for you to achieve your goals if you don't up those calories to at least 1,200 per day because your body is always going be in "starvation mode."

Good luck!

Hello! I'm new to Spark People as well as to the Team Pages. I have only been coasting since I first started. I have found that by trying to follow the menu guidelines with substitutions of what I have in the house, I have difficulty eating that much food. I tend to be very active and forget to eat. From what I've read of other's profiles and introductions, I seem to be a rare individual in this point. Most days I have been struggling to eat more than 500 calories.

I reside in Fort Wayne, Indiana with my husband, daughter, 3 dogs, 3 bunnies, 2 snakes and a huge garden. I do lots of odd jobs for just about anyone who needs my help. This has kept me busy doing everything from construction to landscaping to cleaning homes.

I'm very excited about being a part of SP and look forward to finding others in my area. My start weight was 182 and my goal is to get down to 125 lbs. Given that I'm only 5'1" I don't think I'm being horribly unreasonable. I simply want to be healthy and without a belly overlap.

I look forward to getting to know others.
Lisa
