Hey, y'all, I just joined after reading the article about RWC part 2. I've been running intervals for a few weeks now, but not enough to really make progress yet. A little about me:

I'm 50, I work full-time, I started SparkPeople for real in February, after a false start last fall. I normally weigh 235, but had crept up to 240-something over the winter. I joined a gym through work, and almost immediately fell ill for 2 months, first flu, then exacerbation of asthma, then another flu strain. I've just been back working out since the last week of March.
Despite my efforts my weight has been hard to budge. I assume it has something to do with my age. Now that weather is better, I've had the goal to run intervals three times a week, as I was doing a year and a half ago before my job change. I've only been able to work it out once a week so far, along with my gym days and life stuff that has gotten in the way.
I'm slow. I can't run very far. But I like to run. It makes me smile. I didn't indulge in this pleasure as a child because I was sensitive about being ridiculed. But I'm not going to grow old and die without knowing this pleasure. Of course, I'm also in this to shuck off the excess weight that's clinging to me with no signs of going anywhere.
I look forward to posting my successes along with yours as the weeks pass.
