Welcome to the team, Shannon : )
I would suggest getting out the tape measure and judging your progress that way. Muscle weighs a lot more than fat so you can be staying the same or even gaining weight but still getting thinner. Try it!

Hi there. I've been at SparkPeople before, but I got busy. Hmmmm....Anyway, I'm a single mom to three teenage boys (16, 14, and 13). I'm also a school teacher and am finishing up my Ed. Specialist degree this semester. I LOVE my life.

I've been doing the Couch to 5K for Seven Weeks; I did week one twice. I'm LOVING it! I feel so powerful after I finish each of my workouts. I have never thought of myself as a runner. I do now though. I actually ran in the pouring rain twice last week because I just had to get out and run. I'm building great leg muscles, and I think I might be developing a tushy. This has been great for me.

BUT....

I've actually gained weight. I'm a little less than thrilled with that. I do the program. I track my food on MyFitnessPal. I'm really doing what I'm supposed to do, and I've actually gained a total of thirteen pounds since March. I've probably gained about five since starting Couch to 5K. I lost weight when I was drinking too much beer, eating chicken wings, and nachos, and not really exercising.

Good thing I stated the C25K thing as a personal challenge and to get strong. It's done all of that and more. I feel stronger physically and mentally, and it's been a great stress management thing. I think I'll keep going. he he he

Now-I'm hoping that by expanding my support circle (back to SparkPeople), I'll be able to get over this gaining weight hump and maybe even lose some weight eventuatlly.

So anyway, just saying "hi" and telling you where I'm coming from.

~Shannon
