I find that when I start running, after about a 20min walk, I breathe through my mouth. Never even thought about it until I saw a thread that talked about it and then made it a point to pay attention to what I was doing the next time I ran. So, yes, I'm a mouth breather, but only when I run.

Something else I've found that helps is - don't be in a rush to get to the end. Find a point in the distance and focus on it and then start a slow but steady rhythm and let your legs take over and move you towards that point while you concentrate on your focus and try not to think about what your legs are doing. Most important for me is, I NEVER look down (to see how much farther I have left) or back to see the distance I've gone. I just focus on my point and hear the music in my head that I'm running to. Before I know it the 4miles is done and I'm home :)

By my God I can crush a troop, by Him I can scale a wall.

I can do ALL things through Christ who infuses me with the inner strength to do so.

Breathing ...in for 3 steps ...out for 2...repeat...in thru the nose and out thru the mouth. Helps me anyway, I do get a little mixed up with my breathing when I have music in my ears, but then I just slow down a little. Breathing in thru the nose stalls the "dry throat, I gotta have a drink of water right now " feeling.
Hope that helps emoticon

It was very hard for me to and still haven't reached that easy place. Keep moving and you'll get there!

I am on week two (however has taken me 3 weeks to get to me 5th walk/jog. It is so hard! I think I have no idea HOW to run or BREATH while trying to run. I have significantly overweight, feel very old and uncoordinated when trying to run. I feel like I could power walk for days, but can only jog about 10 seconds.
Any advice for this old gal?

Jenny
